It was Friday & the weather was brilliant, so our team went out for lunch!Gone to the Night Market for the first time... surprisingly, 2 floors!But don't know what's the difference though.A good selection of lunch sets to choose from, and I'm glad I picked the 3 cup chicken.My colleague is vegetarian, so their option was tong choi with rice... My colleague is vegetarian, so their option was tong choi with rice... I suppose that's not too bad as well?

But a bubble tea that tastes like pure water with herbal jelly inside is just disgusting... So much more worth it to get two at Gong Cha instead!

I go here pretty often for lunch, and although I do agree that the prices are fairly steep, service not great, and food mediocre, I do want to note that there are a few items on the menu which are quite delicious.The steamed flounder (I believe #9 on the lunch menu) is quite delicious, and the sides are decent as well. I'ved tried the other chicken stirfrys as well, but they're nowhere as good as the steamed flounder.Other than that, the bubble tea is also overpriced. It costs nearly $15 extra t

The steamed flounder (I believe #9 on the lunch menu) is quite delicious, and the sides are decent as well. I'ved tried the other chicken stirfrys as well, but they're nowhere as good as the steamed flounder.

Other than that, the bubble tea is also overpriced. It costs nearly $15 extra to add it to your set, and it's rather small. Plus there's probably plastics in them nowadays so steer clear.

Arriving at almost 1pm, the place was more or less full but there was no one else waiting, so we decided to hang around. Lo and behold, we had a table in 5 minutes! While the restaurant was done up fairly nicely, the tables upstairs were tiny and they were very closely packed. Unless you get the tables by the window with the ledge, there is nowhere to put your bags. So in that sense, it was like a night market, but then this was not night market price...

On to the menu. There were 8 or 9 set lunch choices, each comprised a main, 3 small dishes and a tea which could be upgraded to bubble teas at $15 extra. I picked the beef noodles in soups and N chose the deep-fried pork chop with rice. N liked his lunch which looked nicely done. My noodles was ok. There were equal amounts of meat and tendon, both tender enough but not mushy. But like most beef noodles, the soup lacked depth... The 3 small side dishes were alright, the tofu with preserved egg and the aubergine better than the scrambled egg with tomato which obviously was cooked and chilled early that morning.

So what's the verdict? For $120 pp in Central, given the portion and quality, it's adequate. The service wasn't terrible, though some (not all, I must stress) wait staff could do with a smile. I won't dismiss it, but not eager to go back in the near future either.

The Night Market deserves to go out of business, and soon, for total lack of hospitality and not making paying guests feel welcome. I had eaten here at lunchtime a few weeks ago with a Taiwanese friend and found it adequate but overpriced. I returned today with a friend, having organised for two others to join us. I had eaten here at lunchtime a few weeks ago with a Taiwanese friend and found it adequate but overpriced. I returned today with a friend, having organised for two others to join us. We arrived first shortly after 12 Noon to a completely empty restaurant, to be told we would not be seated until the whole group was there. My companion and I waited for 30 minutes with only two other people arriving together the entire time, and I decided that it was not worth waiting for their overpriced, mediocre food if we were still standing like idiots beside the lifts for the other two people to arrive. Easy solution - walk out, take the lift to ground floor, and walk further up Stanley Street to the delightful La Taste Vietnamese Restaurant for a large, delicious bowl of Beef Noodles (HK$49 a head). Also v. yummy was the Soft Shell Crab Summer Rolls. So the disaster of The Night Market was beautifully saved by La Taste, which was, by the way, almost totally full at 12. 30 p.m. and standing room only on the stairway by 1.15 p.m., and found us a spot to sit for lunch right away. I think I will go back there again for dinner tomorrow evening.

Needless to say, I will not be bothering with The Night Market again - a complete and total waste of time and money. Funny how when times get financially better in Hong Kong, new restaurants with bad customer service spring up immediately - the same people who would beg for your business when times are tough.

Having eaten here without the benefit of reading prior reviews, I was ready to join a long list of people singing Night Market's praises. So where are all the positive reviews?We quite enjoyed our meal. Maybe a little too much deep frying but that was our eyes talking louder than our stomachs and not a reflection on the food. Which, as I mentioned, was quite enjoyable. Photos below. What else can I say? Oh, this: If you don't like Chinese-American food you might easily take issue with the menu

If you don't like Chinese-American food you might easily take issue with the menu selection. Not that the food is Chinese-American, rather that it Venn diagrams into that oval of Chinese cuisine known to HKies as "the stuffs the gweiloh likes". Doesn't mean it ain't yummy though.

The service was efficient and courteous. In Chinese and English. 明白嗎?

We went on a weekend and for a short while, had the 6/F to ourselves. The people who expected to score seats on their own terms during weekday lunch in Central? Probably still moaning about the bad experience while eating 飯盒 at their desks because they can't manage to plan ahead. If you think it's inconvenient because these people are trying to squeeze profits out of a small number of covers (seats), try rocking up to even a modest restaurant during weekday lunch in the City of London, Midtown Manhattan, pretty much anywhere in Paris, and see what happens. Yes, that's going to be the norm in HK if rents keep going up. So if you really like food then don't be lazy about your lunch plans.

A really cold Yebisu beer in a frosted glass. Now that was really nice.

No doubt this restaurant has let people down. It's a business. But they didn't let us down and, at least in my mind, that means they know how to run their business properly. Sorry to see that so many people didn't get the proper experience. We certainly did.

原先想去JAR,不過full house,行落小小黎左呢左大廈睇下有咩食,唔想食日餐之下,揀左呢間Night Market。間野幾威水,有兩層,睇黎幾好生意。去第一層無位,上多層先有位,奇怪點解下面果層唔話我知上面有位,純粹同我講冇位,要我自己上多層問有冇位。廢話講完,最緊要有位開餐。食台式野,本menu幾靚,幾特別。都係食d大路野,牛肉麵,鹽酥雞,花枝丸加埋個釀豆腐,兩個人,應該差唔多。牛肉麵,先講湯,好似多左d,多到蓋過大部份牛肉,飲落還算濃郁,如果有d辣味應該更可口。牛肉軟腍,仲有筋,還可以。麵係楊春麵,夠爽口。鹽酥雞,有幾濃郁既椒鹽味同埋鹹香味,夠哂惹味香口。花枝丸,幾彈牙,不過食唔到花枝丸既爽甜,只有面頭既脆。釀豆腐,食完幾樣炸野之後,清清地既一款,豆腐釀有魚肉,食落還不錯。粉圓冬瓜茶,似少甜版貢茶既冬瓜茶。食物整體好普通,服務環境還可以。

I called them around 11am this morning and wanted to make a reservation for lunch. They told me that they don't accept booking during lunch time and I asked is it difficult to get a table for 2 if I and my friend get there around 12:30noon, the lady told me on the phone that usually it is fine and don't worry.So, I got there around 12:25pm and I saw there're ONLY 1/3 of tables were occupied and no one else was waiting for table except myself... they did not allow me to sit in and told me I must

I asked them why and they just kept saying it is the policy set by their manager? So I asked can I talk to their manager. They said manager is not in (funny! if it is peak hour, manager is not working) and they refused to give me the manager name as well (obviously, they were bullying to a customer). They just repeated to me that the rules are set by the manager although they have expressed this feedback to their manager many times, well! As a customer, I don't need to know the reason and how could I spend money with this bad services! So I left and no way I will go back! I will also tell all my friends that don't try this restaurant as this restaurant service is so lousy and arrogant.

Talking about HKD100 - HKD130 for a set lunch plus services charge... no booking and cannot take a seat even there are many empty tables. No wonder the comments are poor and even when I was on the lift, people kept talking about "this one is not nice" (just not sure they were talking about their food or their services).

十一長假期星期六中午起身後第一時間想起台灣菜,但港島區好食的台灣餐廳真的很少,靈機一觸想起平日中環lunch去過的the night market,二話不說就跳上的士直達中環。到達餐廳時已經3點左右,餐廳內只有一台等埋單的外國藉食客。我們坐下後打開餐牌一看,才發現原來假日不設lunch set,不過沒關係因為平日lunch set的菜餐單上都有齊,於是我們點了沙茶牛柳﹑鹽酥雞﹑肉躁飯﹑凍冬瓜奶茶和凍珍珠奶茶。飲品先上,冬瓜奶茶平身用了糖冬瓜所以就算少甜後仍保留到本身的香甜,值得推介。反而我那杯珍珠奶茶少甜後像走甜一樣,完全沒有味,不過服務員很熱心的問我需不需要幫我加糖。很快所有食物就上齊了,鹽酥雞炸得很好,完全不用任何醬料都好好味,而沙茶牛柳的牛肉亦十分新鮮及嫩口。肉躁飯的味道也不錯,不過可能其他台灣店都做到這般水準所以沒有太大驚喜。整體而言食物水準很好,價值合理(平均一碟菜$100左右),加上環境服務亦不錯,是間很好的台灣菜館。建議避開平日人多的lunch time, 選擇於平日晚飯或假日中午前來, 可以好好享受一下台式美食。

整體而言食物水準很好,價值合理(平均一碟菜$100左右),加上環境服務亦不錯,是間很好的台灣菜館。建議避開平日人多的lunch time, 選擇於平日晚飯或假日中午前來, 可以好好享受一下台式美食。

we went at 1:15pm and didn't have to wait to get seatings. that should have been a sign!I opened the menu and thought to myself..wow..this is kinda pricey. but I love taiwanese food so i was looking forward to giving this restaurant a try.boy was i disappointed! for $100 you get pork chop that is flavorless. 3 dishes that tasted way over cooked. veggies were cooked so long that you probably didn't need teeth to chew them. worst was the taiwanese milk tea. they let you put the milk and sugar syru

boy was i disappointed! for $100 you get pork chop that is flavorless. 3 dishes that tasted way over cooked. veggies were cooked so long that you probably didn't need teeth to chew them.


worst was the taiwanese milk tea. they let you put the milk and sugar syrup in yourself. the syrup was so thick that once you pour it went to the very bottom and no matter how hard you tried mixing..it was forever stuck to the bottom.

ask me if i would go again? i would say no no no. rip off and not yummy

p.s. i agree...the seat...i felt like i just joined a meeting.

但我只是食個 lunch ,而且 location average,食物質素還極普通,既然以上皆不是,它憑什麼提出如此無理的要求!服務是負分的!它以後就算有改善,有任何 promotion 我也不會知道,因為已經不打算再去了!!!!!!

容我詳述今天匪以所思的事件:

我地 5 位,因無得 book 要先到先等,我地都寫定 order 先,侍應生問願不願意分檯,我地話 ok,結果等了差不多 30 mins (已經 1:27pm),好不容易有張 4 人圓檯賣單,及遠方的長檯有 1 個單丁位,我地話我地不介意逼 d ,可否在 4 人檯加多 1 位........開始了我地跟侍應生「妙語連珠」的對話。

中年女服務生:唔得呀,因為老闆規定呢張檯只可坐4個人 (repeat 多次)

我地都話唔介意逼 d (repeat 多次)

中年女服務生:唔得呀,因為我地個便當係木盤上,只係夠位擺4個

咁你老闆唔係度,做生意可以 flexible d

中年女服務生:真係唔得呀,我同你繼續講多 15 分鐘我都會話真係唔可以坐 5 個人囉 [what kind of reply is this???

跟住一個後生 d 女服務生埋黎,其實個下真係想問佢地個名!點解 d service 咁唔 flexible 而且仲極度 stubborn。

(扯下 walkie talkie])女服務生:我問過你地話介唔介意分檯架喎 [真係勁唔 make sense 呢,就算分檯,通常都可能會 pair up 咁,點會單丁一個出黎?] [時間已經1:40pm,我只有 20 mins 食 lunch 時間]

算啦,一肚子氣的我結果坐在隔黎只有 3 位食客的 4 人圓檯。

我見只有那位男侍應做野小心,另外個 2 位女服務生可以說出如此唔 make sense 的對話真係讓我「嘆為觀止,搖頭不止」。

1:51pm ,我要的三杯雞飯終於都上,配熱綠茶。同事要的奶茶,我試了真係幾麻麻地。沒有茶味,typical 的台式重奶味,但佢重奶味得黎又比唔上日出茶太、貢茶等的街頭奶茶水準!無諗過差咁遠?綠茶則覺得不錯,夠熱同夠茶味。

Lunch menu 裡雖只得 10 樣野到,同檯的 3 位食客 comment 到上菜速度慢,而且無做 market research,收人家一個便當 $86-98 加一 (e.g. 紅燒牛肉麵、沙茶牛柳, etc 普通的台灣菜,款式少,實在不配叫「夜市」),食物質素連他們也覺得不值這個價錢。以這個價錢可以吃到很好的 sashimi set 了,他們都說來一次試試就算了,以後都不會再黎,不化算。我也覺得要俾 $100 食牛肉麵不值,一係就係 Prince's Building 上的 Sevva 食二百蚊牛肉麵還可以推說因為地方高級。

我先嚐三味小前菜,豆牙 tasteless....中間那個麻辣豆腐也 tasteless,只有小黃瓜有少許嚐到調味料.....
失望的前菜。

之後是讓人更失望的三杯雞....雖然米用上珍珠米我是覺得不錯的。出面的酒家,三杯雞會用上較濃味的 seasoning sauce 去調味,還有雞件會比較細件。這裡太大件,肉渣很容易黏到牙縫,而且薄荷葉太多,完全蓋過了我想要三杯雞那種鹹鹹的肉汁味。出面有好多小菜店都整得比佢好食....如果要食牛肉麵,灣仔的大婆牛肉麵幾好味架,也犯不著要 100 大元。我結果要趕在 10 mins 內吃完個便當。

Anyways,看完其他 reviews 更火大,因為證明它超錯的 strategy 是沒有改過的。以中環的租金,應該係要 turnover 大才賺到錢。這間店什麼都話唔得,等同趕客。起初,還被它的摺紙吊燈吸引。不過經歷了這麼一個 dramatic 的 lunch 後,這裡也沒有什麼值得的地方了。

中午, 這兒的簡單餐牌只有定食便當. 台灣的文化深受日本影響. 這些便當式既午餐, 係台灣, 的確是幾流行既. 而且, 係 "夜市" Market食呢一類便當. 是非常便宜的, 同香港人食的兩餸飯相差無幾.

既然是便當, 我們一人一份. 媽要紅燒牛肉麵, 爸要了個腔肉飯, 我就要了個炸豬扒飯. 店員小姐的細心問多一句, 那個餐是誰的. 確保上菜時, 沒有俾錯別人.

腔肉飯, 其實是鹵豬腩飯. 台式的鹵肉是台灣菜中的名物. 鹵水味道, 除非真係搞到有怪味, 都唔會差得去邊. 再講就是肉質好不好. 台式的鹵肉, 唔同港式的, 不會腍到連無牙的老人家也食得到. 肉質帶點硬硬的, 但易咬, 易入口, 一咬, 豬肉一絲絲的扯出, 肥肉結實, 雖肥, 但沒有一嘴油的感覺. 不過, 始終太肥, 我寧願不吃皮.

紅燒牛肉麵, 牛肉麵是台菜中的表表者. 而各家自有各家的做法, 各有各好食, 亦各自各的話自己的是全台灣第一. 這兒的紅燒牛肉, 連筋, 帶點腍. 是香港人愛吃的筋腩部位. 麵條就是爽爽的陽春麵.

炸豬扒飯, 有點像上海式, 有點像日式的吉列. 大大的一塊豬扒, 粉厚像極上海式的炸豬, 粉皮起成一粒粒的又似似地日式的吉列. 台灣既菜式, 就是有這一點點的中、日味道. 豬扒, 算是幾肥美, 炸得腍. 別以為是乾乾的一塊炸扒, 肉汁其實被炸粉鎖死. 咬入去, 有肥脂, 有肉汁. 下面的飯有少少肉噪, 更添味道.

每人都有前菜三碟仔, 有麻婆豆腐, 有酸青瓜, 有芽菜. 成個便當肉雖多, 但涼伴是這樣的蔬菜. 可以中和一下.

味道不錯, 可是計埋加一, 要$100一位. 價錢貴, 偶爾來一來OK! 常來就太貴了.

上次的不快經歷後,打算再俾多次機會呢間餐廳,所以今日同朋友再去多一次,呢間餐廳分別佔兩層樓,兩層都分別有不能的裝修和佈置,而食既野係一樣既,唔同的裝修原意不是讓客人有新鮮感嗎?既然第一次去過七樓,今日就諗去試下六樓啦!點知搭Lift上到六樓,即被拒門外,當時會店仍是空的,但招待的店員就要我們原Lift再上多一層,原因是我們只有兩個人,六樓不招待兩位客人的,真係奇怪的理論,究竟呢間餐廳幾時才能明白現今的待客手法應該從客人的角度出發?去滿足客人這麼簡單的要求?個人常相信,食飯除左食物本身,同環璄,服務係一套的。老實說以午餐的價錢,呢度唔算平,一百蚊既午餐,可以有很多選擇,可以食到好好服務同好食的餐廳,可惜呢間餐廳只能用一百蚊的價錢去享受食物,不要期望能同時享受基本服務水平。尋找中環食晏好去處:The Night Market ﹣ http://bit.ly/bNmZ5V

食物品味道本身是不錯的,只是對餐廳的待客Strategy很不滿,專程早點去,諗住唔駛等位,但未齊人就不能入座,這點絶對是可以理解及明白,但當時全店還有三張吉枱,而朋友已正搭電梯上緊餐廳都無情講,繼續罰企,全程我被罰企了十五分鐘,而這三張吉枱也空著十五分鐘,既然都是空著,點解唔可以彈性地處理,當我告知朋友正搭緊電梯上來,就先給我安排座位,就算要我先點菜也沒有所謂,總好過要客人罰企吧!尋找中環食晏好去處:The Night Market : http://bit.ly/bNmZ5V

約了一位朋友吃午飯。我12:45 先到餐廳,只剩下中間多人長檯。因為不想搭檯,見到有一張二人檯就快結賬,所以我決定等一會。經理說大約等5-10分鐘。等了5-10分鐘左右,二人檯終於埋單。經理這時竟才說:「你的朋友未到,我不可以讓你入座。如有其他客人到,我會把檯給他們。」超差服務!!1. 等完一輪先話唔俾檯,玩呀?!2. 我問經理:「我等左10分鐘,你現在先同我講要人齊先入得?」經理回答:「你等左5分鐘咋﹗」 <- well, 唔該晒!3. 我問經理:「我等之前你冇講﹗我朋友就到﹗」經理回答:「sorry﹗規矩係咁! 睇下,有其他客人黎! 」(指住剛到的幾個客人) 可惡﹗我又唔係一個人霸你10個位,我都係一個人等2個位。而且,係你叫我等,但竟然叫我等完10分鐘,之後俾左張檯其他人???? 這是什麼服務?????!!!!!!

Had two lunches there. Ordered chicken leg with rice and stewed pork with rice. I am a big fan of taiwanese food so I gave this place a second chance after the disappointment for the first time. I have to say that the food is dry and plain. The decoration on the lower floor is ok but we were asked to walk up one floor where the room is a bit shabby. It's pricey for the food quality as well. I will never go there again....
