The least likely place I would think to serve Halal friendly food would be inside a cooked food center. But here it was. Wai Kee.Menu is in Chinese and English. That was also unexpected. Though the beef was braised so long in the curry, it literally fell apart. It was that moist and tender. The curry sauce, though a bit too spicy for me, was according to boyfriend, quite good. Rich with various spices.
Roast Duck with Rice ($38). You can also choose a bowl that is a smaller portion but boyfriend wanted my rice so I chose the plate version. I thought this was pretty good. The duck was moist and tender. Though a bit on the salty side where the meat met the bone. I guess that's where all the spices were lodged in for marinading. The skin wasn't too fat and was a bit crispy. A fairly decent duck. I wish they had sweet and sour sauce for dipping. I wasn't sure if they offered that. I didn't see anyone else that ordered this request it.
Shrimp and Chicken Wonton ($36). We shared a bowl of shrimp and chicken wonton. As it was Halal friendly, they didn't have the usual pork filling but replaced it with chicken. This took a long time to arrive. I suspect they make the wontons when you order. Fairly good. Skin was thin enough. Meat had a decent amount of springiness. A good shrimp to chicken meat ratio.
Pretty good for decently inexpensive prices. A good option for those that eat Halal food.
