I have been to Pizza Express numerous times and have been a fan of them ever since the first time. I have long wanted to try their Peking duck pizza and Seafood pizza, one with tomato sauce and one without to explore the contrast. For these two pizzas, they may be a tad more expensive than other pizzas you can see on the menu but trust me, it will be worth it. First talking about the Peking duck pizza, I already had a hunch that it’s gonna be great before it came and obviously, it turned out just wow, the pizza base, i.e., the hoisin sauce tasted exactly like if you were to have Peking duck at a Chinese restaurant. Although it was a little sad that there was only one slice of duck on each pizza, the toppings and presentation were impeccable. Also, the slice of duck was still sizeable. The pizza was also a little spicy which made me fell in love with it even more. As a person who doesn’t normally eat crust, I was totally comfortable with eating their Italian pizza crust, soft but crusty on the outside and super easy to eat with the core of the pizza.
The Seafood pizza posed a different style, it had a tomato base but it wasn’t overpowering at all and in fact complemented the seafood great. Their novel design of adding anchovy paste into the base gave the pizza a really ‘seafood’ base vibe. They were also generous with the seafood and they tasted marvellous, the combination of seafood, e.g., prawn, clam, octopus really went very well with one another. In fact, the slightly burnt crust made a good addition to the toppings and eating them in pairs wasn’t a hassle at all.
