My first impression of Gaki was not particularly good, because when I tried to dine there for the first time, a server was quite rude to me, so I left the restaurant without even trying the food. However, I decided to give Gaki another go and I’m very glad that I did. The sashimi is really fresh, and most of the sets are equally enticing. I particularly enjoy their lunch sets, and they’re all very filling, in addition to allowing you to sample a great variety of sashimi / sushi / cooked foods. M

Most of the sets are under $120, and come with miso soup and steamed egg.
The quality of the ingredients used is high, and the price point is a bit lower the other izakaya in Mei Fu Sun Chuen, and even tastes better overall! I love supporting small businesses and I think they put a lot more love into the food than say, Genki / Sen-Roy. If you ever come by Mei Foo, I think this is the best restaurant to go to. It’s hard finding good food in the area!
I’ve been back a number of times for the excellent food, but I still think that service can be better. As a lone diner most of the time here, I think that they tend to rush me a bit if I have a late lunch.
