Well, my friend saw this on Openrice when we were in England and we’ve been wanting to go there ever since, seeing that Matcha is their specialty and god the desserts look awesome. So we head to the cafe after we had our lunch- we arrived around 4 o’clock. We waited a while before we get to go in- it was an agonizing half an hour because it is summer in Hong Kong, yet we have to wait in a semi-closed area with no air-conditioner or fan whatsoever along with a bunch of other patrons. So when we f
okay let’s get to the point shall we? below are the things we ordered:
Matcha Snow White
(my drink. Contains matcha tea, milk and vanilla icecream)
Matcha Mojito (my friend’s drink, contains matcha tea, lemonade, mint etc)
Matcha Sizzling Brownie
Matcha Chocolate Fondant

Quite sad that i didn’t choose the other drinks because the two drink we tried are kind of horrible. it was hot outside so I chose Matcha Snow White, yet it is bland in taste, it’s not the vanilla-y matcha I was looking for; my friend’s drink taste more like mere washed-down mojito. As matcha fanatics, we are very disappointed.
As for the Matcha Sizzling Brownie, it sure does look amazing, it’s also kinda fun to pour the matcha sauce down the dessert and here the sizzling sound haha~ I love the contrast of the cold ice cream and the brownie and love that the brownie is not overly sweet as I have expected. The brownie taste good but would have love it with a stronger flavor of matcha and butter. The strongest matcha taste comes from the sauce so the matcha flavor in the brownie seems lacking. (oh and I keep getting ice in my icecream, wth- is this homemade? better fix the icecream machine)
The Matcha Chocolate Fondant is the one dessert me and my friend loves a lot. It’s like the perfect mix of Matcha and molten cake, with the matcha chocolate filling tastes so good, yet not overpowering the taste you will find in the cake outside. Again, a perfect combination with the icecream but god I keep having ice cubes in my mouth (fix the icecream machine please!)
Overall: I find the restaurant over-hyped, it’s kinda expensive yet I feel like I didn’t get what I paid for, for the drinks mostly aaaand the queuing, but I would still come back for more because the Brownie and Chocolate Fondant are lovely.
Both of them are expensive though- so if you want recommendation, I would say go for the chocolate Fondant, it does worth the price I guarantee.
