Having been to the Lawry's for so many times, I am never disappointed, especially when it comes to special occasions for celebration.
It was a Friday night birthday celebration with three of my best girl friends. To fit better with the ladies appetite, and to avoid food wastage, we ordered two set menus to share.
The steak was good as usual. The medium rare prime rib was just rightly cooked, served in its best fresh pink colour with no excessive red blood flooding the plate when cut. The beef was softy textured and you can easily feel how it leaked its natural taste when it rolled with your tongue.
We didn't not expect a lot when the grilled chicken was served. It looked dry, and uninteresting, which is in a way understandable with the impression that restaurants normally do its best in one and possibly crap in others. However, to our surprise, it was divided in four by very thoughtful staff and was actually very edible. If one is decisively coming for the beef, stick with the prime rib, but if one is looking for some variety, the chicken is a good choice to share.
Staff at Lawry's are generally well-groomed, welcoming and friendly. The Chinese lady who served us was also very thoughtful and patient with our orders. Sometimes, you would feel obligated to order individually at high end restaurants but the waitress made us feel very comfortable sharing. Excellent customer service.
My friend was offered a complimentary mini dessert cake for her birthday which ended the celebration with a nice note.
Overall a very good dinning experience. Reasonable price given the standard of service, and there is certain discount for the AE or Citibank credit card holders. Definitely worth coming back again.
