Grilled wagyu and abalone, served with an abalone liver sauce ($250) - Every high-end Japanese restaurant seems to be serving abalone with abalone liver sauce these days. This was really nicely done. the abalone was generously portioned and its texture was perfect. But the same could not be said for the Miyazaki wagyu steak which was very chewy and a bit rough. A big thumbs up for the abalone (and liver sauce) and thumbs down on the wagyu for me (Grade: 2.5/5).

Ore-no ramen ($60) - Though not a big fan of ramen, I decided to sample their namesake Oreno ramen. The broth was surprisingly light which was always good and the noodles had fairly good bite. Pretty nice (Grade: 3.5/5).

Pineapple creme brûlée ($60) - I was told this is a must-try dish at Ore-no Kappou and it was indeed very special. There's a lot of contrasting textures and flavors in there starting from the creme brûlée with the classic caramel glaze to the pineapple sorbet and pineapple itself. The contrast in temperature also played a part in making this hugely popular dessert a winner (Grade: 4/5)!

I was a little surprised that they took the wagyu off the bill following my "enquiry" (Not a real complaint but just a series of questions about the origin of the wagyu etc.) but unfortunately, the damage was already done. I thought the ramen and dessert were both nice (the dessert in particular) but this was definitely not the most enjoyable meal of my life.
