Had a day off and woke up so my original place for lunch would have been closed by the got there. So, realizing I haven't been here in a while, I chose this place for lunch. However, the last time I came here, I visited the branch in Pacific Place when it was linked to Lane Crawford. Now that it's located in Hysan, I haven't tried it.Located in Hysan Place, it has wonderful windows to bring in a lot of light. I arrived and was given a table quickly and tea was given. Then I was left alone for what seemed like five minutes without a menu. At first I thought the wait staff was arranging place settings or something for me and was not able to get me a menu yet. So I waited patiently until I noticed the wait staff were all standing around chatting. So I asked for a menu and was given one without an apology for forgetting to give me a menu.
I ordered the seasonal bento set. It arrived in less than 10 minutes. Incredibly fast. It looked appealing until I tasted it.
Appetizer was seaweed. It was bland.
Stewed pork with mochi was also bland.
Tempura asparagus and shrimp was chewy. Yes, even the asparagus.
Yuzi scallops was so rubbery, I couldn't chew them. There also was no yuzi flavor. Instead it was super salty. Perhaps from the panko.
Cold udon was bland. It came with some sort of white watery sauce that had no flavor. I'm unsure what it was.
I thought you can't screw up fruit salad, but I was wrong. The fruit had no flavor as well. It was also overly soft. Made me wonder if it had been cut ahead of time and left to sit for a while before serving.
Food has deteriorated in quality. Service is just non existent. I paid $185 for this. Yet, they gave me something I would find for something much cheaper.
Will not return.
