We were not sure about this new Spanish Restaurant in the old Food Street and went there for a quick lunch on a busy and hot week-day.The restaurant does not disappoint and even if we could not have the lunch in the open area (August, too hot) the inside of it has a nice and contemporary Spanish vibe. We ordered from the set lunches, 2 Tapas plus one main course of Pasta, at very reasonable prices. In fact and if you are not a big eater the two tapas can make a light lunch easily.
The Tapas were typical for a Spanish restaurant but some new international touches: The fired chorizo was tasty and with a sweet honey sauce that contrasted well with the original spicy taste of the Spanish Sausage. The pork miniburghers were soft and tangy and to my taste they had too much mayonaise -but my companion loved them.
It is a bit odd to have Pasta in a Spanish Restaurant and you can order some Rice dishes if you want, but in the end we opted for two plates of Spaghetti, that were very generous in size. The Carbonara had a nice touch, changing the bacon for Spanish Chorizo and giving them a spicy taste that mixed very well with the slow-cooken egg also included. The other dish was Spaghetti with Duck Breast and Mushrooms and reminded us of some risottos with the same ingredients. Interestingly the Spaghettis give the plate a more consistent mouthful and the result was very satisfactory.
We added a nice piece of Cheese Cake that was not too cheesy nor sweet, making the dish a nice dessert.
All in all our lunch was very satisfying, and at $ 120 per head plus Service Charge a very good value for money.
