Chaat, usually referred to a traditional snack sold by street vendors in India, literally means “to lick” in Hindi. Located in the luxury Rosewood Hong Kong, it is one of the very few Indian restaurants in Hong Kong to receive a Michelin star, strived to reimagine the conventional Indian cuisine. Being a restaurant of this calibre, Chaat has a really enjoyable vibe which comes along with casualness without losing its fineness and standards. It actually corresponded better with the food it serves

᯽ 𝙋𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙙𝙖𝙢 (7/10)
Thin brittle flatbread with mild lentil and spice flavour, served together with a fruity and spicy chutney dip. The dip was very flavourful but was slightly too hot for me.

A popular all-time snack that possesses deep-fried crispy shell filled with crunchy lentils. It was wise to serve the sweet and tangy chutney on the plate so as not to affect the crispiness. They altogether present rich mouthfuls of flavours and textures.

The unconventional presentation and ingredients of the dish has made itself a popular option. Unlike traditional samosa, the major ingredient used was jackfruit meat and fillings were stuffed in cone shaped shells. Although the flavour of jackfruit was insignificant, the filling has an interesting combination of sweet, savoury and mildly spicy – very appetising!

Definitely a hidden gem and had outshined other popular dishes here. The octopus was super tender and meaty, moist and not too dry, and the thin parts were not burnt. Seasoning was on-point with chives, cardamom and cinnamon.

The tikka masala sauce, mainly made of fenugreek, caramelised onion and tomato, tasted balanced and rich. What impressed me the most, however, was the juicy and succulent chicken. Highly recommended to pair it with naan or rice.
