I really wanted to love this place. Everything should have been perfect - they have a great location and a style of food that many people enjoy (and that you can't find in many places in HK).But unfortunately the experience I had was, at best, average.Staff Great on the telephone, called to confirm the reservation etc. Yet when we arrived, the girl on the door asked repeatedly if we had a reservation (we said yes) and then she looked around the restaurant as if we shouldn't have been there. But unfortunately the experience I had was, at best, average.
Staff
Great on the telephone, called to confirm the reservation etc. Yet when we arrived, the girl on the door asked repeatedly if we had a reservation (we said yes) and then she looked around the restaurant as if we shouldn't have been there. She was able to ask someone who knew which table was ours, but surely the reservations book should be on the door, or at least someone who has seen it and knows which parties to expect at what times... Waiting staff were mostly good.
Food
Nothing special. Lumpy bland mash (no salt on the tables), fried chicken was ok but had been slightly overcooked. Green bean casserole again hadn't been seasoned and the pecan pie was ok, but hardly the generous portion you would expect from a restaurant that serves this type of food. It was fine though, nothing 'wrong' with it, but I couldn't recommend it to anyone. We ate there to see if Restoration would be a good place for a friend's birthday dinner. Sadly, it would not.
Atmosphere
There was no real buzz, but this may be because the place is so new
Price
Expensive, and not even nearly delicious enough to justify the prices. Over $300HKD for crab cakes!
I was going to write more sections, but just thinking about it makes me feel very apathetic and "meh", just like the whole experience we had there!
