Recently one of my friends strongly recommended me one restaurant, which he told me i should go try with my wife. Since it has been a while i last fine dined with my wife, I decided to bring her for dinner. Emporio Antico was located at Hennessy Road, just 5 minutes walk from Wanchai MTR.When we first reached the entrance of the restaurant, we were captured by the decor of it. When we first reached the entrance of the restaurant, we were captured by the decor of it. It was very posh and grand, with lots of lightings and a shelf to display their food items.
They have 3 dinner sets, and since we came all the way here, we chose the most expensive set, priced at $888 per person. It came with 7 courses, with light sides, appetizer, main course and desserts in order.
Danzante Prosecco - It was from Italy and of sparkling wine range. It was bubbly and smooth, easy to drink. It has a fruity taste too.
Amuse Bouche - It was served in a wooden plate, with 5 small snacks on it. Scallop was flavourful and slightly spicy, smooth as well. Crab meat was flavourful and fresh, with the crispy edges. Tuna was buttery and chewy, mushroom was juicy and smooth. Tomato dipped with vinegar was soft and juicy, with strong vinegar taste.
Bread was toasted till soft and crispy, with vinegar and olive oil going well with it.
Caviar box - Jelly was made of lobster and was very creamy and soft, with slight lobster taste. Caviar was less salty than normal, but was still very flavourful. It was very soft, almost melting in my mouth.
Cured salmon - It was basically smoked salmon, thus it has a charred taste. It was chewy and flavourful. Yellow pickle and mustard helped to enhance the taste of the salmon.
Seared Hokkaido scallop caviar - Scallop was cooked with bacon foam and crispy bacon bits. Bacon was flavourful and salty, crispy as well. Hokkaido was large in size, chewy and meaty.
Taglionlini with seasonal fresh truffles - This pasta type was not easily available in Hong Kong, as it was exported from overseas. Onsen egg was used to mix with the pasta, thus it was extremely chewy and creamy. Truffle was very fragrant, sliced till thin and crispy.
USDA prime flank steak - Even though the meat was still raw and red in colour, the manager told us that there will be no blood when we cut it. It was cooked using slow cooked method. It was extremely tender and chewy, able to taste the raw taste of the beef.
Peanut butter chocolate brownie - It tasted quite different from the usual brownie outside. It was thick in texture and sticky, with strong peanut butter taste and slight chocolate taste. It was very crispy as well.
