I had a good memory of congee hotpot in Guangzhou around 2 years ago, but has not yet tried similar hotpot in HK. Heard of a new Shunde-style seafood congee hotpot in San Po Kong, it sounded good to try. Saw through the shop front, it looked like a small local small fry restaurant, quite clean and tidy. 2 of us ordered a standard seafood set in which 7 kinds of seafood including meet crab, shrimp, 2 kinds of calms, abalone, “Sha Pak” (calm-like shellfish) and fish.A bowl of watery congee broth (
Saw through the shop front, it looked like a small local small fry restaurant, quite clean and tidy. 2 of us ordered a standard seafood set in which 7 kinds of seafood including meet crab, shrimp, 2 kinds of calms, abalone, “Sha Pak” (calm-like shellfish) and fish.
A bowl of watery congee broth (no rice inside) was served, waitress said we could cook the seafood separately according to different optimal cooking period. What a funny thing to try, we started to cook the seafood with the timer. The seafood with watery congee broth was quite light in taste, then owner reminded us to have the seafood with its special soy sauce, haha, it tasted really great.
It took us around an hour to finish all seafood, then waitress come over with a set of dried ingredients, a bowl of rice and egg sauce. She started to put rice into the watery congee broth, egg sauce then dried ingredients while she was stirring. We got a lovely egg rice in soup in hand, the taste was good with smell of seafood. Woow, this is a great full stop of the meal.
