Ate here last night to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Service started off rocky as the waitress seemed uninterested in serving us as only a few of us got water but the rest had to wait another 10 minutes for their cups to be filled. Afterwards we noticed we didn’t have the drinks menu as she had only given us the cover and not the menu inside of it. When we requested for the drinks menu, the waitress rudely snatched it out of our hand and gave us another one without so much as a sorry or acknowl
Eventually we ordered and there were still some hiccups including dust all over the wine glasses we received, and flies flying over us. But anyway food came fast which was great. The pan con tomate and the tomato with burrata were exceptionally good. Amazing food.
Anyway then comes the paella. We specifically ordered meat paella as the birthday girl is allergic to seafood. The waiters bring a seafood paella, to which we politely said we didn’t order this and we had ordered the meat. And then we hear behind us, the waitress who took our order freaking out and shouting “NO THEY WANTED SEAFOOD”. She then came to our table and shouted at us “YOU TOLD ME YOU WANTED SEAFOOD”. To be honest if we had really made a mistake, you could have at least asked us nicely. Shouting accusations at your customer is not the kind of service we’ve experienced anywhere. Not even at a cheap 茶餐厅.
Anyway she ended up coming to us to say the meat paella is coming. No apologies, nothing. The other service staff who we assume to be the manager came to apologise for the mix up (it wasn’t even his fault and it should have been the waitress who literally scolded us to have been the one to say sorry). We thought the matter was done with, but we continued to hear the waitress gossip and badmouth us to the other staff and rolling her eyes at us. I understand she thinks she’s being covert by using Spanish, but surprise surprise sometimes people end up knowing Spanish too.
She not only cursed at us in another language, but throughout our dinner make fun of us behind our back with other wait staff.
She is the staff member with short hair and glasses. Filipina. I unfortunately did not catch her name and would normally not try to expose which staff was involved, but this was too much.
She even messed up the birthday surprise. We secretly ordered a dessert platter saying it’s our friends birthday, and they ended up bringing a normal dessert platter with no candles no name, no nothing. We ended up asking for the candle in front of the birthday girl.
Terrible experience, would like to see some overhaul in the staff training here.
