I used to love The Globe for its great vibes, friendly stuff, and most importantly yummy food. But my recent experiences have forced me to think twice about going back there for food.My boyfriend and I were lack of inspiration for a late lunch on Sunday, and Globe wasn’t a hard decision since we’ve been there many times. It was quite late in the afternoon and it wasn’t crazy busy. But it took quite a while for our lunch to arrive. Frankly, I was a bit surprised. BF’s order required zero cooking, and fish & chips didn’t become the No.1 fast food in the UK for lengthy cooking!
Finally, our lunch was brought to the table. I was shocked by the pathetic appearance of two teeny-weeny fish fingers. Yes, there were freshly fried, but no, I ordered fish & chips as main and I expected ONE piece of regular fish fillet, not some fish tail that fell off the fillet.
I asked for exchange, and the waitress went to get a supervisor who then tried to talk me into taking it. Are you kidding me?? Eventually, they agreed to replace it, but very reluctantly. It was about another 10 minutes before I got my late late lunch, but it did make me wonder why it took them over 30 minutes to deliver it the first time round.
Anyway, onto the fish. The batter was so thick that it was like eating a doughnut that happened to be stuffed with fish, who happened to be on diet before. Needless to say, that was another major disappointment.
I’ve had way better fish & chips for less than 5 quids than this HKD149 dish. Enough said.
Conclusion, I probably would come back for ciders, but I will NOT eat there again…like ever!
