My friend finished work at Yuen Long today so I went to have dinner with her. I was craving for dumpling so we went around and look. While walking around, a lady handed me a brochure and my eyes went wide because they have dumpling in a hotpot. So me and my friend went in to try. The place is actually quite big with lots of people. Me and my friend ordered lots of sacks and noodles. Me and my friend ordered lots of sacks and noodles. To start with, the shredded chicken and clear noodles with peanut sauce is our all time favourite. We must order this every time we see it. The clear noodles were stretchy, it tasted so good with the other ingredients. The cucumber stripes were crunchy and fresh. The chicken stripes were easy to chew and tasted so good with the peanut sauce. The down side was that it was a bit too oily.
Steamed pork & soup dumplings with crab roe was quite unique, I've never seen anything like this before. The dumplings smell so good while it was boiling next to us, we didn't eat until the fire went off. I gently lift it up so it won't break. The pastry was super thin so I had to be very careful. I bite the top bit and suck up all the soup first, I think that's the way to eat the dumpling. Anyway, the soup was very fishy, after eating the filling, I could taste the crab and fish within the pork mixture. The texture was soft and smooth. It actually tasted very good but I am just not a big fan of fishy flavour.
Spring rolls were quite ordinary, there were veggie and mince inside. They were crispy and tasted good with vinegar. The filling was seasoned nicely.
Fried dumplings were very yummy. It was super juicy when I bite it. There were mince, prawn and veggie inside. The mixture had a nice flavour. The pastry was a bit thick but it can keep the juicy inside.
Chinese chives with egg pancake was amazingly good. We thought that the pancake will be the thick style made from flour but instead; it was the very thin pastry that they used for the spring roll. The Chinese chives was such a good match with the egg. The whole combination was very tasty.
Sichuan noodles with peppery sauce was quite special because the taste was quite different compare to the others. It had a very strong peanut flavour with their special chilli sauce. The mince was easy to chew and yummy. The noodles were stretchy and soft. I really like the flavour!
To finish up our meal, we ordered the sweet potato with honey coating. This is a very special dessert. The sweet potato was super sweet and soft! The sweet potato was covered with honey, the coating was quite thick and hard; it was like eating hard candy. I really like the texture. Not to mention the fabulous presentation. I will definitely bring my mum here for Mother's Day because she loves this dessert.
