This healthy version of Namkee has become one of my frequent joints. While the price for a meal is around double that of the original Namkee, you pay for the healthier ingredients and the more comfortable seating. The afternoon tea sets are also much better value compared to the lunch sets. This particular day I had the afternoon tea set:Sour and Spicy Noodle Soup with Beef and Daikon (white turnip) ($35)This is the signature soup base from the original Namkee, but the version here is MSG free
This particular day I had the afternoon tea set:
Sour and Spicy Noodle Soup with Beef and Daikon (white turnip) ($35)
This is the signature soup base from the original Namkee, but the version here is MSG free and has more vegetable toppings (chives, preserved vegies, beancurd skin). The soup (I chose "little spicy") tasted rich and blended really well with the rice vermicelli noodles and the daikon. The beef was ok (preserved meat) - wasn't really needed.
Freshly squeezed apple and pear juice with ginger (+$7)
The set comes with a free soya milk but you can upgrade to other drinks. I prefer to order their freshly made juices (a choice of apple, pear and carrot) as it is rare to have fresh juices in a Hong Kong noodle shop. You can also add ginger for no extra charge.
题外话/补充资料:
They have changed their menu since September. The sets are now more expensive, but with an extra side dish and more choices of soup base.
