There is something about the extremely hot summer in Hong Kong that I hate so much! It's this type of weather that makes me eat everything cold .. sushi, ice cream and yes ... shaved ice.Echigoya was originally located at PMQ. I visited it when it was opened there. As it was hot outside, a shaved ice break was in order. Menu is in English and Japanese. The previous shop, the menu was cute and hand drawn. This was not and in just a regular clipboard form.

Boyfriend and ordered two items.

Rainbow ($58). A very colorful bowl of ice. There was a some slices of lemon inserted throughout which boyfriend happily chewed on. Sweetened by the sugar syrup, the ice was finely shaved and fluffy.

Green Tea ($75). There was a generous amount of green tea syrup and a dollop of azuki bean paste on top. A few pieces of dango that was a bit too chewy and sweet potato bits. The ice was also finely shaved but not enough syrup was provided to so we were eating a lot of bland ice.

A nice break for the summer. May not be my favorite Japanese shaved ice place, but a good option for when I'm in Tai Hang. Small enough to have on my own as well.
