Sushi Nakamoto is one of the most famous sushiyas in HK and the prices are definitely on the higher end. I have tried a number of other mid-range sushiyas as well as a few expensive ones, so I do have some knowledge and experiences to compare with. However having tried Sushi Nakamoto, I would say the quality here is just average and on the same level as some of the other sushiyas which charge much less. The set I had was the more expensive of the two for lunch, being $900 for 15 pieces of sushi.

However having tried Sushi Nakamoto, I would say the quality here is just average and on the same level as some of the other sushiyas which charge much less. The set I had was the more expensive of the two for lunch, being $900 for 15 pieces of sushi. I have to say the ingredients used were quite commonplace and quality was nothing special at all. In fact, I thought a couple of them were a bit fishy (though still acceptable) and in general the neta didn't seem particularly fresh. The signature tuna trio (akami, chutoro and otoro) might have been made with wild tuna (as opposed to farmed) given the deep bright red colour of the flesh, but somehow flavour was not particularly strong and the marbling was a bit weak. I have uploaded my pictures speeparately, so you may find them here for your reference. I would say it was definitely a decent sushi lunch if we disregard the price, but I definitely expected better from them. Probably won't be back for lunch any time soon (if ever) but I do reserve my position as to dinner as some places do have quite a large discrepancy between lunch and dinner qualities.
