Haven't smelled the sea for I don't know how long. Although the day was rather dull, an unobstructed view of the sea was quite rewarding. Had a very pleasant lunch with very pleasant people. Boulangerie is Bistronomique's bakery - a stone's throw from Bistronomique. Both eateries are quite charming and I am quite fond of both! Oh, and On Lot 10 as well - same owners. Environment:There are a number of outdoor seats but it was quite a cramped space and it was windy that day so we headed upstairs.

Environment:
There are a number of outdoor seats but it was quite a cramped space and it was windy that day so we headed upstairs. It was very homey and unpretentious. Quite rustic and whoever decorated it had taste! Here displaying absolutely overpriced jams. Never tried any but I am so sure, I will be happier with some nice SMUCKERS blueberry jam and spend the rest of the dough on a nice food processor. I need a food processor. Chef busying himself in the downstairs kitchen while we head up to the loft! Yeah this is it! Super nice and cozy. Come with a party of 10-12 and take over.
Service:
No fuss, very efficient. Almost hurried. I was staring at the display shelf and the cashier asked me 'do you want anything?' to which I replied 'not now, but would like to get something after lunch' to which she advised 'you better pick something you want and i'll reserve it for you because these here get snatched up pretty quickly' and voila she was right (of course she would be). So if there's something you want to save for dessert after the sandwiches, do say so in advance.
Food: There's the baked goods list but they get sold out pretty easily so. While stocks last! You have to ask them what bread they're serving the sandwich on. Varies.
Bresaola - air dried beef/mozzarella/rocket/tomato/pesto/olive in ciabatta $78 Mine. Very happy with my italian fix. The salad was um, as you can see...unremarkable. The dressing was alright though. Good when had with soup but too much rocket alone doesn't do the taste buds any good. The carrot soup was hot and not too thick. I could taste carrot very faintly. Would've preferred pumpkin, broccoli or asparagus soup. But basic root veg soups can't be faulted really as long as they put in the real stuff and is served hot.
The ciabatta itself was delicious. Soft and pleasantly chewy, with a lightly floured surface. The fillings complemented each other very well - very basic ingredients - even better! Good for those who have weak/lazy jaws and don't want to gnaw their way through the baguettes.
Bahn mi - white cooked ham/cheese/butter/cornichon in baguette $78 A had this. I exchanged half of my ciabatta for the baguette. The roll was soft and warm; the outer skin which had a pleasant crunch did not hurt my upper palate. All the ingredients came together harmoniously and created a delicious sandwich. That is all. I liked the ham and cheese a lot.
Paris-Brest: choux puff filled with hazelnut and almond praline cream $45 First time trying this dessert and I think I would prefer the puff to be less chewy on the inside. The cream made the puff slightly soggy - didn't like.
Caramel eclair $38 The caramel coating was done perfectly. No breaks, shiny and glossy. This eclair would happily satisfy anyone's sweet tooth! Just the right size too.
Carrement Chocolat - 70% dark chocolate cake $45 Mm, my pick out of the three. The ganache was quite soft, and you could very easily fork your way through. Good for sharing. The tart is perfect and the pastry case was yummy too - wasn't too crumbly so you could pick up a slice easily with a fork. And - despite the fact that this is advertised at 70% dark chocolate cake, it is sweet. You feel the bitter sweetness in your mouth. But it is satisfying.
Conclusion:
Definitely coming back again, perhaps for tea only, because I love the upstairs space. Could hang out there for a whole afternoon, as long as my laptop battery lasts!
