Growing up in Canada, I was still exposed to the world of Sanrio. One of my favorite characters was Little Twin Stars. That blue haired boy and pink haired girl who sat on a moon all day surrounded by pastel stars and clouds. Much to my amusement, I found that Honeymoon Dessert had a Little Twin Star pop up at their Hysan Place location. I had to go! I had to fulfill my inner child. The entire shop is decorated in the theme.Everything is pastel colored and even the lights look like clouds. They've
The entire shop is decorated in the theme.
Everything is pastel colored and even the lights look like clouds.
They've even changed all the tables with the twins.
With cushions found through out.
Even the napkins have the logo.
They will give you one coaster to keep. It says on the back if you collect all four, you'll get a special fifth one.
They have a section to take photos.
And there is a gift shop to buy items.
They have time slots for dining. But if there is room, you don't have to adhere to the time slots. There is a 75 minute dining time but this is also not stressed unless it's busy. There is a minimum charge of $88.
There is a themed menu that is in English and Chinese. Unlike other Honeymoon Dessert shops, the theme restaurant charges 10% service charge. They have a variety of desserts and drinks.
They also have new items that have just been released to replace some old ones.
Ordering is done by checking off a piece of paper.
Star Ice Cube Fruit Soda ($48). The fruit soda came with star shaped ice cubes in one glass and white soda in a flask.
Pour the soda on top.
The ice cubes will melt slowly and become a mix of colors. The white soda tasted like ramune soda. The ice cubes were also flavored. Pink tasted like strawberry, blue like blueberry and yellow like mango. Cute and colorful.
Dreamy Layer Star Cake ($88). The cake came in three layers that were shaped like a star. There was two scoops of ice cream on top (strawberry and vanilla) and a couple of strawberries and blueberries. The twins was a piece of white sugar paper.
The whole plate was dotted with star sprinkles and sugar syrup. This was really quite nicely presented. The cake was a chiffon cake so it tasted kind of spongy. But overall, pretty good.
I've been to a lot of theme cafes in Hong Kong. Be they pop ups or permanent, I try to go. And a lot of the times I'm always disappointed. Most of the time it's the food. The food is usually terrible or they don't put a lot of effort into being creative with the theme. Most also don't put any effort in trying to decorate the place to fit the theme if it's a pop-up. However, I was seriously impressed. They went all out in decorating the place. The food was creative and it actually tasted good. Not great but good enough for me. So, if you like theme cafes, this is one to try.
