I met up with some friends who suddenly decided to check out my little Happy Valley neighborhood. But as I had gotten off work very late, I met them here for dessert at 11 PM. It's what I would call an old school Chinese dessert shop that serves the community. The place serves all sorts of traditional Chinese desserts but I suggested they try what this place is most popular for. The baked tapioca pudding with lotus seed paste. Why it's popular? I don't know. Maybe for putting lotus seed paste as
The place serves all sorts of traditional Chinese desserts but I suggested they try what this place is most popular for. The baked tapioca pudding with lotus seed paste. Why it's popular? I don't know. Maybe for putting lotus seed paste as most now use taro paste or azuki bean? Anyways, it seems everyone that comes in here always order this. It comes in a glass bowl and even if you take it away, they give it to you in the glass bowl. Which people in the neighborhood usually do return them.
The dessert is held in the fridge and if you want it hot, they just pop it in the microwave to heat it up. The pudding was warm and only sweetened by the sweet lotus seed paste. As it was hot, the paste was gooey. It's pretty good especially on a cold winter night.
Would I return? I live here so this is my neighborhood late night dessert shop as they are open until 1 AM. So, yeah as I generally have no choice as it's the closest dessert shop near by. But if you plan to trek all the way here purposely for dessert ... no. There are far better places elsewhere.
