I ordered the Watami Kimchi rice in Stone Pot Set $59 and a Watami Original Fried Chicken $19.
The Watami Kimchi rice in Stone Pot had very little pork (1 long slice 😐) but the presentation was quite nice and the Stone Pot was very authentically used. The rice itself was very spicy which I really enjoyed. I would rate the spiciness a 7/10 because it has a burn but goes away after a few minutes. The pork was very dry and chewy which was expected but still disappointing as I have eaten other Hot Stone Pots where the pork is still tender, however, the flavor of the pork is really good and spicy but not too intense. The rice was very good and I let it sit in the pot for a while so I can make crispy rice and that was delicious with the spiciness.
The Watami Original Fried Chicken has a very crispy skin and a unique taste, the seasoning is very simple but also quite in depth. The batter however is still a bit raw and has a starchy aftertaste. The chicken was served with a heavy dollop of mayonnaise which was a nice change of flavor for the chicken.
The set salad was very underwhelming with only 3 pieces of salad leaves and few bits of corn. The house dressing however was decent. The set miso soup was heavily filled with MSG and you could taste it. The only good thing was perhaps the dried seaweed and tofu bits.
