My husband and I went to the Flying Pan at Wan Chai, largely based on the reviews on Open Rice.It was about 9am on Sunday morning.  There were very few people there.  Despite this, all of the best tables near the windows were marked reserved, and we were not allowed to sit at any of these tables.  This already gave me a bad sign.  In my experience, restaurant staff who cordon off all of the good tables which plainly will not be used by anyone usually are not very good and have very bad service.

It was about 9am on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, I was not proven wrong.  No one ever turned up for the tables which were reserved, and the staff were hardly friendly.

The worst thing about Flying Pan was the food.  We ordered their signature breakfast dishes.  It is fair to say that everything clearly came from discount deep frozen supermarket stores, or something similar.  The breakfast tasted very plastic.  All of the salt and pepper on earth could not make the dishes taste remotely decent.  The juices were served in tiny glasses, and again, clearly came from discount deep frozen supermarket stores.  Overall, at around HK$180, we feel totally ripped off, and would never go back again.
