Yoi Yoi is an izakaya designed based on the manga/drama コの字の酒场. U-shaped counter restaurants are very popular in Japan and they are usually small restaurants that offer economical prices on food and alcohol, where guests interact often with the staff and other customers.This was my 2nd visit to Yoi Yoi but the quality has dropped a lot. 焼き鸟 Yakitori
Looks like all chicken skewers were chargrilled. The セセリ neck $42 and ハツ heart were juicy and had a nice sear. But the レバー liver was almost well-done and the texture was too harsh. The 手羽先 wings came in two pieces and was too dry.
ホッケ Hokke $128
This was cooked on the electric grill. Not so juicy. Slightly overcooked.
和牛 Wagyu Beef $128
The beef was so tough even it was medium. A lot of connective tissues that I could not swallow.
イカ一夜干し Squid $86
Also cooked on the electric grill. This was flavorful and nicely grilled.
サザエ Turban Shell $78
My favorite part of turban shell is the bitterness of the liver. But they had already removed it😢😢😢The flesh was cut into small pieces which was easier to eat.
It would be much better if they could cook everything chargrilled. Prices were not cheap. Hope they can still maintain their food quality in future.
