Haven’t been back in a while. Last visit was during the pandemic after learning that this spot is the chefs go-to after service. Last visit was alright. Fair execution. H said he wants to revisit so here we are again. Server recommended us having the pigeons. Loved the crispy exterior. It would have been better had the pigeon been meatier and marinated a tinge longer.Daqian chicken 大千鸡. The chicken were deep fried to perfection with a golden exterior. For veggie I wanted to try something different so we ordered Gracilaria in minced garlic (蒜茸龙须菜). The gracilaria has an interesting smooth texture and very luscious to the bite. Loved it.
The most disappointing dish was the prawns with fried rice vermicelli. The prawns were alright but the fried rice vermicelli was bland and fried in a thick batter. The sauce that came with it though packed with lobster essence it still failed to redeem it.
Overall a meal with hits and misses and it certainly has room for improvement.
