My wife and I were planning to have an early Xmas dinner so as to avoid the crowd. In order to blend into the Xmas atmosphere, we planned to have steak dinner. After some research, there is a restaurant in Wanchai serving quality steak named Carlo Riva. It was located at Heard Street, around 7 minutes walk from Wanchai MTR. Besides their signature steak, they offered seafood, main course, appetizer, salad, soup, risotto and pasta as well. As a steak restaurant, they served mainly wine. They do have Xmas set currently as well.
Satellite Sauvugnon Blanc - This was one of their white wine range. It exhibited tropical fruit taste, and was crisp and refreshing. It was easy to drink and goes well with the seafood.
The complimentary bun was toasted till crispy outside, and yet still soft and moistful inside. It goes well with the butter provided.
Chef selection salad platter - This was their chef special salad. There were mushroom and beetroot in it, together with avocado salad dressing. Mushroom was juicy and beetroot was soft. It goes well with the avocado sauce, which was creamy and buttery.
Soup of the day - It was sweet corn cream soup. It was creamy and smooth, with strong sweet corn taste. There were even sweet corn bits in it as well.
USDA prime OP rib - As Xmas was just once a year, we decided to feast on ourselves and ordered their tomahawk range. It was in 30oz, which was enough for 3 person. The serving was indeed huge, with baked potatoes at the side. Baked potatoes were soft and meaty. We requested for medium, and was done nicely. The edges were charred and have the charred taste. The meat was tender and juicy, goes well with the sauce provided.
