为鼓励食肆透过提供食物份量选择和采取减少厨余措施,与顾客共同从源头减少厨余,环境保护署推出了「咪嘥嘢食店」计划,参与食肆如符合评核准则将获「咪嘥嘢食店」认可资格和获发「咪嘥嘢食店」的标志及标贴,以供张贴於店舖内和宣传,供顾客识别。此计划全年均接受申请,申请费用全免。

I love a good plate of charsiu egg with rice. A total comfort food that is easily made at home but I always love ordering it if it I see it on the menu. 旺记冰室 (English name: Mon Kee Cafe) was one of many cha chan tengs that were mentioned among foodies as a really good place for this. It had been open for a while with several locations across Hong Kong. I had the double whammy. BBQ Pork and Shrimp with Eggs on Rice with Homemade Sweet Soy Sauce ($64). The egg was really soft and there was a generous amount of sauce that was very definitely on the sweet side. The only thing is the char siu was a bit dry. The shrimp was fresh but they only gave me three. A bit stingy I think. But it was the char siu that really disappointed me.

Boyfriend decided to have the Homemade Tomato Pepper Sauce with Pan Fried Pork Chop, Chicken and Rice ($70) and added $10 for scrambled egg. The sauce had a bit of spice to it so it wasn't just a basic tomato sauce. There was also plenty of it. The pork chop was well fried and crisp. The chicken was moist and tender with  crispy skin. This fared better than mine.

Portion was not very big and I was able to finish. But for their signature dish that many say was one of the best in town, I wasn't too impressed. I've had better. Probably won't be back.
