First and foremost, this place is always jam packed with all of customers, families, couples, and interesting I saw a 70+ lady in wheelchair coming to this place for deep fried chicken! Just like any other Korean restaurants, 2 kinds of appetisers are served, kimchi and sour pickled radish. Pretty standard but I think the radish can be more sour. Korean style beef soup $38Though fried chick is a must order, I would like to try something else so I have ordered a soup. Instead of the classic kimchi tofu soup, I went for the beef soup which actually came in a giant bowl that could probably feed 3-4 people!
The soup itself is pretty savoury in taste and is filled with some chunks of shredded beef, bean shoots, pickled radish, and onions. Seasoned with fermented bean paste, this is salted but is a kind of healthy salted taste. It's also not too oily so it's just great to enjoy it in this cold weather.
Cheezling chicken + Secret sauce chicken $128
For $128, you can pick 2 of your desire kind of chicken so that you can try more but with a similar price. It comes in 5 pieces of each so it's more than enough for 2 ppl in my point of view.
The cheese one is covered in generous amount of cheese powder that tasted pretty much the same as the kraft one. It's sweet from the cheese powder but savoury at the same time from the deep fried chicken that is perfectly crunchy on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside.
The secret sauce chicken is a lot stickier from the sweet and sour red sauce. Yet, the skin is still very crunchy and flavourful. It's very slippery too so make sure you use their gloves that comes with it. Wet wipes are also available at each table
You can see how juicy it is from the inside and it is also very oily and greasy but you know that is what is making it good. However, I do personally prefer the cheesy one just because it is sweet and savoury at the same time which is also kinda addictive from that old-school cheese powder that we used to have in our childhood.
Iced Americano $32Lastly, you gotta have some coffee in live. It's quite funny that they serve me hot fluffy cream and syrup when I order Americano. I hope I am not the only one who prefers my coffee black? (I just added a touch of cream just to make it more photogenic tho)
I am happy to see that more and more new restaurants are taking over TKO so that ppl don't have to go to HK Island for that. Again, there are too many customers going to this place so do expect a certain amount of waiting time.
