My French winemaker friend visits me in Hong Kong---- it's been one year and a half since we parted our way in Nice, Francia!

Now it's my time to return the favour--- to host him and show him around.

My cute neurotic mommy and I bought him here at Festival Walk, to a high end Chinese restaurant called Festive China with hopes of a cool healthy lunch.

I chose Festive China because it has stir-fried veggie brown rice!

Hong Kong is not a vegetarian friendly city--- full of pollution, foods are mostly meaty and oily. More health-conscious options are very expensive. I still don't understand why I must pay for 50hkd just for a dish of plain vegetables. I also could not find a proper restaurant with brown rice and non-meat options.

My friend found that one of the wines in the display windows at the entrance is made by his neighbor. It is called Chateau Pesquie. It's so interesting that when the French winemaker is visiting Hong Kong, he can find so many of his "neighbors" here------ I mean, we have already spotted some wines produced nearby his winery when we were walking down the street or in supermarkets. What a special way to discover Hong Kong!

Okay, I must say he's always complaining how expensive Hong Kong is, but at least he can enjoy this meal.

Love:

 Stir-fried brown rice with veggies and eggs 88HKD : full of tiny veggie cubes such as celery, mixed thoroughly with eggs. It's quite delicious but too salty. It is served with generous amount of honey roasted cashew nuts, lovely with the rice
)))

 Crispy roasted lamb leg  with herbs and lotus bread slices 118HKD: the skin is deliciously roasted--- lightly crispy with salty aromatic herbs on the surface that makes your mouth water. This is clearly a mutant dish as the sauce dip is sweet-salty paste (one of the ingredients is plums), lotus bread slices and bitter but refreshing green onions which is usually served for roasted duck.

The lamb skin is crispy with proper portions of meting fats, together with the hot juicy meat inside its amazing.

Others/improve?:

:/  Xiao Long Bao/ small pork dumplings (50-60HKD) it's not good at all---- the pork is not round and full, the juice in the dumpling is too oily, and the envelope is too easy to break, letting the stuffing leaking out. Better try in restaurants with much cheaper price, such as Tao Heung and Shanghai Min.

:/   The restaurant is full of green table cloths, together with the rather dull lighting, I found the interior environment not as fancy as Jasmine Chinese restaurant.

In case you wish to try my friend's wine, you need to wait for me to import his organic production to Hong Kong as it's still not being sold here yet! Please be patient for the invasion of Domaine Chiniard in HK!
