Normally, I don't eat spicy food. But I walked by this restaurant and saw so many cute pandas on all the tables. So many I couldn't walk away. Boyfriend said it's spicy noodles but the staff reassured me that they offered nonspicy choices. The cute pandas all on all the tables were actually toothpick holders. SO CUTE!
Chuen Koon Beef Stew Noodles ($39). I ordered this and of course, requested nonspicy. The soup was a mix of various spices with a depth of flavors. The noodles were chewy and al dente. Just the way I like it. It didn't appear to have a starchy aftertaste. The sliced beef was tender and moist though not much flavor.
Chuen Koon Special Beef Brisket Noodles ($39). Boyfriend ordered this. He ordered small amount of spicy as the staff informed that even small amount of spicy was pretty spicy. Then boyfriend forgot and threw a piece of his beef into my bowl of nonspicy soup, making it spicy. Anyways, the beef brisket boyfriend gave me was pretty moist but it was so spicy, I couldn't taste anything else. Boyfriend said it was ok. Just spicy and couldn't go beyond that.
Spicy Sliced Pork ($15). We shared this appetizer. It was not too spicy. Just a tiny amount so it was ok for me. The dish wasn't very good. the sauce was odd and gloopy. I wasn't too into it. It tasted more like they spiced up some hoisin sauce.
It was ok. I don't think I'd return again not even if I'm in this area as there are other things to choose from. But prices are inexpensive and it was fairly clean. Staff was friendly as well.
