It's my second visit to FUKURO. It's one of the few which lives up to the hype! The food was absolutely amazing. The only drawback was the fact that they don't take reservations, only walk-ins. It took around 40 minutes to wait for the table. It was really crowded and noisy, and we couldn't stay longer as the waiter kept urging us to pay the bill and leave. We ordered two snacks, the "Crispy Caramel Butter Corn" and "Japanese Omelette". The corn was undoubtedly my all-time favorite. It was so
We ordered two snacks, the "Crispy Caramel Butter Corn" and "Japanese Omelette". The corn was undoubtedly my all-time favorite. It was so buttery, and the sweetness of the corn complemented so well with the toasty and aromatic caramel coating. The heavenly caramel coating brightened up the dish with extra crunchiness. I was always amazed by how good they executed this simple, yet extremely lip-smacking dish!

The Japanese omelette was very velvety, topped with grated daikon and salmon roe. It was very refreshing and light. It's not as sweet as typical tamago, which I enjoyed it a lot. The texture of the omelette was simply perfect, not too runny, nor stiff.

The A4 beef sukiyaki was extremely palatable. The perfectly seared marble beef was served with a smooth egg yolk and slightly sweet sukiyaki sauce. Unlike the sukiyaki served in other Japanese restaurants, this was not cooked in the pot. The warishita soup base was replaced by a thicker sauce, which had a stronger note of shoyu and mirin.

Recently, my Instagram had been filled with photos featuring the Kobe beef sandwich from Wagyumafia, a famous Tokyo private dining group which served finest Japanese beef dishes for its member exclusively. This ketsu sandwich was a nice replica of Wagyumafia's. It was much cheaper, yet tasted equally buttery, soft and presented with a palate-coating richness.
