Today was the first time I managed to get a seat at the restaurant. I gave up on waiting the last 2 times when Hysan's Place was newly opened. The decor of the restaurant is okay. Today was the first time I managed to get a seat at the restaurant. I gave up on waiting the last 2 times when Hysan's Place was newly opened.

The decor of the restaurant is okay. The place is not cramped and the seats are quite comfortable. Upon taking a seat inside, I took a look at the menu and was quite taken back by the prices. I have no issues paying top bucks for a good meal, but they charge $88 for basic ramen with ONE slice of pork and $150 for the specialty noodles (ie with foie gras). In addition, they charge $8 for green tea. Having an open mind, my wife and I placed our orders for miso soup with noodles (one spicy and one non-spicy), as well as an order of beef tongue.

The noodles came very timely and looked quite attractive. The taste was also okay, although the soup was a bit salty, very oily and too heavy in MSG. The MSG stayed in my throat for the subsequent hours - not a pleasant feeling. The beef tongue came only after we were all done with our noodles. Although it came late, it was worth the wait. The beef tongue was nicely cooked, tender, tasty, and was served with buffalo mozerella on top. The beef tongue was served with a peppered soy sauce, making that a very yummy combination. Thats a new way of cooking beef tongue, and I was impressed by the taste/preparation.

Overall comments -- There are a few other Japanese noodle shops in HK nowadays, and I think rasupermen isnt any better than the rest of them. There is no surprise as to why the novelty of this restaurant disappeared so quickly. I remember this restaurant was packed with a long queue waiting when Hysan's Place first opened. Dont get me wrong, the food is decent and the service is fine. Although I am not likely to be a returning customer, I think there will be lots of mainland tourists lining up to have $8 green tea and $88 dollar noodles plus tip.
