Missing Japan a lot (don’t we all), I decided to spend the Sunday evening at the Rakuen. Rakuen is a Japanese specialised in Okinawa cuisine, which is very special. I always love a Japanese restaurant that offers edamame to start. Kumejima no Kumesen Umeshu
Have always been a big fan of Umeshu, and this glass has definitely met my expectation. The taste of the ume and alcohol balanced well, is not too sweet but strong ume flavour.
Highlight of the night
Lightly grilled Miyazaki Wagyu Beef Tokoki
As you all know Wagyu is famous for its tenderness, and this dish is no exception. The meat is well seasoned and juicy, also is worth adding the lime and dip it in the sauce. Is the perfect combination of meaty flavour with good balance of acidity.
Okinawa Taco-Rice
A very surprising dish - although it is a mix of mince pork and lamb, it has a strong smell and flavour of lamb, which I like a lot. The tomato sauce is a bit spicy, but not so much that you will need your drink. The diced tomato and shedded lettuce added some crunchiness to the dish, which balanced out the texture.
Lastly - Sea Salt Ice-Cream with Brown Sugar Baumkuchen
Perfect combination!!! Sea salt ice cream is my absolute favourite, and Baumkuchen! What can I ask more.
