Our host was insistent to be served raw fish by Chef Ricky; whilst Brother was insistent in trying as many tempura dishes as possible. So we Ate. A. Lot. Here’s what we had.
-Cod wafers
-Cuttlefish salad
-急流明石鲷- very Q弹
-象拔蚌from Hokkaido
-Charcoal grilled kinki 一夜干
-针鱼 (big fish weighing 120g)
-Wild Hoikkado scallops in butter
-Sardine
-响螺- very sweet
-liver wrapped in 剥皮鱼
-乌鱼子
-Grilled long crab legs
-𩽾𩾌鱼干 topped with fermented mini watermelon from Nara
-鳕鱼白子粥: very yummy
-石鲷鱼
-Hoikkado 户井Toro
-乌贼
-Grilled 鸡泡鱼白子. Texture was like marshmallow
-池鱼
-北寄贝 skewer
-松叶蟹
-Uni
-Shrimp
-Toro roll with fried toro skin and onions. Very crispy and unique indeed.
-小尊 creamy soup
As for tempura- was definitely one of the best I’ve tried. Chef used Japanese sesame oil- very light and fresh. We had:
-king crab
-沙锥鱼 (kisu)
-oyster
-Shirako
-赖尿虾、蚕豆
-Abalone 、persimmon
Dessert: fruits and sesame IceCream
In summary: good nite out. Lively atmosphere as everyone sitting at the counter was sake lovers. We ended up swapping bottles to try. Food was good. Brother was already planning his dinner at the tempura counter.
