Normally on Friday after work, I will meet up with friends for some drinks and dinner. My friends suggested to us that we go over to Lan Kwai Fong for dinner and drinks. Just along the slope up towards Lan Kwai Fong is a restaurant that captures our attention. Their signboards were very bright and fiery, easily capturing one’s attention. The seating arrangements were all in high table bar. The staff told us that the shop beside named Grill was combined with them. For customers who prefer grilled items and take away can proceed to Grill and order. If customers only purchased grilled items from Thainan, they will not be allowed to dine in. For the grilled item, it was an open concept kitchen so that customers were able to view the grilling process from the chef.
Boneless thainan chicken (regular) - When served, I was quite surprised that the portion was quite small, considering the meat was only slightly more than the chicken rice set. It comes with dark soy sauce and chilli sauce to drip on. The meat was smooth and tender though. Considering the price paid, I wish that the meat could be slightly more.
Green curry stewed beef with rice - The portion look reasonable, with a lot of ingredients in the curry. But again, there is more vegetables than meat in the curry. Curry was fragrant and mixed with the rice; I could finish the whole rice by just mixing the curry. Beef was slightly tough.
Chicken wings – This is one of the better ones I have tasted in HK. It was grilled till charred, but still retaining the crispiness of the skin. Meat was soft and juicy, with the marinated sauce playing a part.
Asparagus - It was a hit or miss item. There is not much juiciness in it and look thin.
short ribs - The meat was juicy and tender, but there is still some hair visible when eaten. The marinated sauce was quite tasty too.
S Pellegrino blood orange - As we ordered a lot of food, I finished the juice in no time as it was just a small bottle. It was gassy and fruity.
