Dinner. Unexpectedly large long space; dining rooms on either side with a bar in the middle. We picked the more casual “cafe” dining room as it is brighter and less noisy than the formal dining room with tablecloths. Same menu is served anyway. Here is what we had. 4 pieces of House Cured Salmon Gravlax with roasted beets, honey mustard, dill etc. Served with 4 pieces of toast. The salmon had a silky and substantial texture. The earthy beets went well with the sour cream. A refreshing and well-balanced appetizer.

French Onion Soup, topped with a generous amount of melted gruyère cheese on garlic crouton. The rich, caramelized onion broth was robust and full of flavor, but the crouton was not crispy enough.
Wanted to order the seared Duck Breast which was unfortunately sold out. Server suggested instead the roasted Canadian Pork Chop with crisp crackling, gravy and apple sauce, medium to well done. Meat was tender- a satisfying and comforting dish.

Beef Stroganoff, a classic dish that did not disappoint. Tender strips of beef were cooked in a rich and creamy sauce, with mushrooms and onions. The hearty dish was expertly seasoned and served with rice.

Decadent finale for dessert- moist and rich Sticky Toffee Date Pudding, with a luscious toffee sauce and topped with vanilla IceCream.
