I haven't been to Tin Hau for a long time, I didn't know they have lots of new restaurants there until my friend told me. Tonight, my friend took me to this new Japanese restaurant for dinner because she knows I'm craving for some. While we were looking through the menu, the staff gave us some fried codfish fillets for snack. They were nice and warm; and super crunchy. I like to dip them with the mayonnaise. It was my first time to try the "A ji tartar", it was quite different. There were some seaweed for us to wrap the fish around it. Let's talk about the fish first, it was actually a bit fishy even though the chef added lots of ginger and spring onions but after dipping into their special vinegar, it tasted alright. The texture of the fish was chewy and slimy; whereas the seaweed was so crunchy. I was so impressed with the salmon sushi warp. When it arrived, we thought it was just an ordinary salad wrap but after a bite, I found out that there was a salmon sushi inside. The lettuce was fresh and crunchy which lift up the sushi flavour. The salmon sushi was heated up with the cooking torch so it was warm. Salmon was meaty and easy to chew, the rice was soft and super tasty. The chef also added lots of sesame sauce within the wrap which makes it amazing. Next, it was one of my favourite. The deep fried egg stuffed with toro tartar tasted fantastic!😘 The toro tartar was amazingly delicious, I really like the spices and sauce that they put in the mixture. The diced tomato, onion and pepper matched so well with the toro. But moreover, the tartar tasted even better with the fried egg underneath it, the egg was crispy and soft inside. I really like this starter. Another amazing dish came next, "Baked minced king crab meat with minced beef bone marrow". We were shocked with this dish because we've never tasted something like this before. The staff placed a very pretty Japanese mini stove in front of us and then lighted the burner inside so the bone marrow was nice and warm when we eat it. We waited for awhile until we could see it bubbling then we started to eat. It not only looked mouthwatering but also smell so good. The staff taught us to scope the meat out of the bone and place it on the rice cracker to eat. The flavour was just unbelievable!😋 There were lots of crab meat and they tasted so beefy! The mixture was seasoned perfectly and tasted so good with the rice cracker; the rice cracker was crunchy and warm. The staff told us that the chef cook the crab meat with the minced beef bone marrow first and then place them back on the bone so the mixture can absorb the bone marrow flavour while under the heat. We ordered some skewers:
Wagyu beef: They were so tender and juicy. The texture was so soft and easy to chew. It was seasoned beautifully. Pork intestine: My friend doesn't like it, she said it was very fishy. I thought it was alright because I eat it all the time; the texture was quite tough but the flavour was quite good. Cuttlefish with roe sauce: To my surprise, I quite like the texture of the cuttlefish even though I need to chew it for quite a long time but the texture was smooth and tasted so good with the roe sauce.
Chicken shoulder: it was my first time to try this part of the chicken as well. Again, it was so tender and juicy. The texture was so smooth that I didn't need to chew a lot before swallowing them. Chicken kidney: One of my favourite, it was so tasty. They were quite crunchy and easy to chew. The flavour was spot on. Chicken neck meat: it was my first time to try, they were so tender and juicy. The texture is definitely different, they were so smooth. The spices that the chef put on push out the flavour.
We finished off our meal with wagyu beef fried rice. It was served in a beautiful stainless bowl. When we opened the lid, the smell was just wonderful. I could taste the wagyu beef in every bite, the flavour was spot on. All the ingredients were chopped in small pieces so it was easy for us to scope and eat. The rice was soft and the sauce they used was so tasty. I really like this fried rice but we didn't get to finish it because we were too full. The Aomori Apple juice was sweet and refreshing. It is certainly a great drink on a hot summer night.
