It is a mid-priced sushi restaurant and the food reviews here are usually hit-and-miss. However, from personal experience, it is a sushi place worth visiting and I am satisfied with both of my visits.They offered three lunch sets in HK$800, HK$1,000 and HK$1,200, serving 12, 14 and 16 pieces, respectively. It is in fact a “dodgy” pricing strategy, as maguro and uni are usually the standard configuration of a sushi set, while they become add-ons in Tokami’s. With that being said, they do live up to their prices.
Tokami’s maguro are from one of the best suppliers, Yamayuki, and the reason Tokami can ensure the best supply of maguro is because the owner of Tokami is also the founder of Yamayuki.
Yamayuki’s long historical status in Tsukiji ensures it receives daily supply of premium tunas. The tunas used in many top-ranked sushi restaurants, such as Ginza Kyubey (銀座久兵衛), Sushi Saito (鮨 齋藤), Sushi Sawada (さわ田) in Tokyo and Sushi Ikko (鮨 一幸) in Hokkaido are also supplied by Yamayuki.

Except maguro, their bafun uni double-decker is also worth expecting. The bafun uni used here is 大極上 from 鷗洋水產 in Nemuro (根室), Hokkaido, one of the finest brands we can find in the market. The generous amount of bafun uni they used in their signature piece is also mind-blowing yet not causing any imbalance to the nigiri itself.

However, I was expecting for more from here. The lunch and dinner menus here are more or less similar and standardised. In my opinion, the superb performance in lunch would create a difficult hurdle for dinner to overcome. Will revisit for dinner soon, surprise me please! 😋
