Sun Japanese Dining use to be one of my favorites spots for dinner in Causeway Bay because the food is good, price is acceptable, and most importantly I almost never have to wait for a table.
I haven't been for a few months already though, and this time I went, the service turned horrible!
I had to ask for a server to help us take our orders for like 3 times, coz somehow only certain people can take orders, but if i asked a person that cannot take the order, shouldn't they reach for a person that will? But they don't... they just tell us to wait.
We ordered a few hot pots. One is a Soft shell crab w/ Kimchi & Tofu soup. It came with a heater and covered so I thought the server will come over and help us when its ready, but they didn't... so we had to help ourselves. Then later on the manager came over and was like, oh, you shouldn't be eating it yet it might be cold inside. (How are we suppose to know if we waited for like 10 min and nobody came over we assume we're gonna have to DIY! only if the server had just tell us when she left the dish..instead of saying NOTHING)
then we also ordered a Sukiyaki pot. It came in a weird shaped "pot"... again, it was left there for like 15 min and its still not boiling yet, and we ask them whether its ready for this one... and they are like yeah you can just put the meat in. The pot is half the size of a box of tissue and its not even brought to a boil.... so we added all our meat, and it was just kinda soaking there....kinda gross. Fortunately the meat tasted OK (after it soaked until cooked!!)
Finally for the full course of our dinner they never refilled our tea, and we had to ask them each time after we finished our tea. I really can't be bothered with doing this 3 or 4 times over the course my meal! (especially when it takes forever for them to notice that i am waving for help!)
I didn't want to give this place just an "OK" ...since i always come here, but for today's services, its just below par, unsincere and unprofessional! I get more from a normal 港式茶餐聽, at least they tell me when my 煲仔飯is ready!
I will come to this place again only when I'm not in a hurry and in a pretty good mood so they won't piss me off with their service...haha
