As previous reviews have commented, this restaurant is located in an extremely sketchy part of Causeway Bay. There's even a video screen on the ground floor that lets people see who is in the lift! As previous reviews have commented, this restaurant is located in an extremely sketchy part of Causeway Bay. There's even a video screen on the ground floor that lets people see who is in the lift!

However, after you make your way to the 9th floor, you're transported into a fairly authentic representation of a yakitori restaurant. The loud noise, the smokey smell, the controlled chaos. Although I did enjoy the smokey atmosphere at first, it will get overwhelming at times. The combination of the smoke emanating from the grill, the copious cigarettes being inhaled by the many Japanese guests, and the less than adequate ventilation system will leave some gasping for fresh air after their meal.

However, the food and drink helped alleviate some of the asphyxiation problems
We started with a few sticks of yakitori - the chicken wings (手羽) stood out, the skin was crispy and tasty, whereas the ox tongue and lamb chops was very mediocre. We also had grilled eggplant (なす焼き) and cold soba (ざるそば).

Our main course was their signature foei gras and egg rice bowl, which came highly recommended. I feel that the dish made all the difference for that meal. It was the defining dish that pushed the night from medicore to "wow this is really good, we have to come again". The creamy richness of the poached egg and foie gras complemented each other perfectly, mixing with the rice to create heavenly harmony. It truly was a great dish. To nitpick, I felt the dish could use a little more flavour, but it hardly matters when you're enjoying the dish as much as I was.

Other cons (aside from location) were that the bill came out to being a little expensive. I think it was close to 1000 for two people, granted we ended up over-ordering. Also, it astounds me that a Japanese yakitori joint has no draft beer! Canned Asahi simply cannot replace the delicious taste of 生ビール, especially at quenching the thirst originating from salty grilled meats!

Only come to this place if you're brave enough to trek through shady alleys, and your lungs are strong enough to inhale lots of smoke. But for me, I would gladly pay that price for another bowl of their フォアグラ丼.

露筍卷 - 都幾清新, 但我相信只要串燒舖肯比機燒, 應該都可以做到同一樣o既水準 (8分)
燒票米 - 甜就不在話下, 加埋蒜蓉香草牛油, 簡直一絕 (10分)
燒鰻魚(即燒鱔) - 極之脆o既表皮包住非常juicy o既肉質, 充滿淡淡鱔o既油脂味, 只此一家 (10分)
牛肋骨 - 牛味甚濃但"鞋"口, 個人認為較為失色, 但熟o既程度已經好好, 可能係肉質本身唔係太適合做串燒 (7分)

雞皮 - 雞皮要燒得脆唔難, 入面要保持雞皮油脂味應該都唔算難, 最難係要將佢處理到誰也搶不了誰的風頭先難 (9.5分)
蕃茄煙肉串 - 蕃茄內裡仲好juicy, 煙肉燒得冇over到, 唔錯 (8分)
鵪鶉蛋 - 入口質感似燒脆左外層o既溫泉蛋, 真係燒得岩岩好, 唔多唔少 (8.5分)
鵝肝雙蛋飯 - 建議最後上檯, 由於佢將所有材料攪拌好先上碟, 質地舔身但重鵝肝味, 慢慢試就會感覺到有大概2種層次o既味道, 先鵝肝後蛋味. 的確做得好 (10分)

基本上, 呢間串燒店每一樣都有水準, 而且見到大司傅用心烹調o既樣, 食得出係有一間heart o既食店, 據聞司傅來自南蠻亭, 唔怪得水準都係無得輸喇 :-)

值得一提, 服務員都非常nice nice, 大司傅更愛同食客把酒言歡...雖然價錢算偏貴, 但無論氣氛, 味道, 感覺都非常好, 更難得好友相聚暢, 當然無價

Had to walk down a dodgy dark alleyway AND up some tacky looking building to get here. But was it worth it? I suppose so, the grilled ox tongue alone was good enough to make the horrible trek worthwhile. Very juicy, tender and full of flavour :-) I'd also recommend the grilled butter corn, butter potato, lamb chop and most other yaki (grilled) dishes. I'd also recommend the grilled butter corn, butter potato, lamb chop and most other yaki (grilled) dishes. Although the fact that they deep fried the heads for us made it seem just a little better....(still wouldn't say that the head was amazing either though). The cold (zaru) udon was another mistake... only ordered it because I craved something subtle go with the heavily flavoured grilled dishes. However the udon was not al dente at all...should have stuck to the grilled stuff & just drank water!
Anyhow this was a good meal - will come again soon

I guess you can call it cozy if you're the sort that dines there - a long table of various international nationalities celebrating a birthday, a couple in their corner trying to catch each other's words, a lone young japanese man munching on his edamame at the countertop whilst browsing through the daily newspaper, or a bunch of yuppies trying out this place where a friend's gf organised his surprise birthday party (us).

First up, they told us they ran out of chicken, well, they had cartilage and perhaps some skin left, but nothing else (avian flu scare?). So we didn't have a lot of choices really. But the sweetcorn was done well, juicy with a knob of garlic butter, and the grilled eel rice bowl was massive, with fresh fat pieces of eel, none of the reddish brown slices you get in supermarkets. Another commendable dish was the grilled rice balls, although someone preferred it slightly less crispy, I personally thought it was fab, and the big plate of stir fried vegetables was flavourful. I being a carb fan, loved their inaniwa udon, and they give you a choice of 2 or 4 kinds of sauce. Then there are the usual suspects, grilled bacon-wrapped tomato, eggplants, pufferfish (very nice), beef (slightly chewy), and other items that weren't too memorable.

3 types of sake to choose from, we tried all 3, not bad.

The bad part was the service, we asked the waitresses to check on our orders because it was taking forever, but they bluntly told us it's a friday and it's always like this. Harrumph. And they don't look around to see 3 of our waving hands in the air beckoning them. Afterwards they were a bit better, taking away stacked up dishes, pouring tea etc.

The bill was $3200 for 7 of us, given the environment, i'ld have to say I would prefer somewhere else.

introduced by friend-"food standard is same as 南蛮 but much cheaper is the price "well, just tried with another friend.Really disappointed. Nothing special, food actually is not comparable with 南蛮 at all, but the price is. Environment and atmosphere is also not good. definitely I will not go there next time.

講真如果唔係個朋友帶我去.你一定冇可能找到.味道OK, 燒蕃茄, 燒牛舌一定要試, 正.服務都OK, 至少會主動介紹食物先啦.

想試的朋友一定要先定位,間野開18:30,週日休息.必試:1. 燒大蝦(令到你心情轉好的菜,要預訂)2. 牛舌3. 燒羊扒(勁juice,一流)4. 手打冷麵(平時不太好的妳都會鍾意)5. 燒粟米(夠甜,近來少少失準)6. 雞掌肉7. 燒露筍再order埋ASAHI,包你話好味!!!地方不大,同埋上菜慢(得1個廚師燒烤)
