剛在微博寫了有關這裡的分享,這裡日式的汁煮海螺已吃了多年,用上日本醬油煮,味道濃郁而螺肉鮮嫩,在香港來說水準很高,而這裡令人欣賞是只做晚市,專注就是好,喜歡居酒屋美食的朋友可別錯過。

銅鑼灣日式餐廳林立,要不是熟人介紹,大概也未必懂得到此串門子.一到埗,見格局地道,像是日本人的私竇,本貓的為食雷達立時響起,此處的食物質素應該相當不錯.是日正值墟期,我們三人瘋狂點了:- 高野豆腐x2: 貌似抹枱布或洗碗海綿,但極其美味. 既香甜,口感亦相當不錯,難怪是此處必點之物.- 豆腐牛油果沙律: 一般日式豆腐,但牛油果熟度剛好,芝麻醬汁亦好味. 歡喜程度令我打算在家弄弄.- 壽司x3(每款): 有油甘魚,牡丹蝦,帶子,海胆. 除牡丹蝦一般之外,其他都十分鮮美. 飯味及手握力度俱佳. - 蔥吞拿魚卷物: 魚夠茸,蔥是日本蔥,夠清香,好味!- 池魚刺身: 鮮甜,連怕腥及銀色魚皮的我也吃了少許.- 塋光魷魚: 本貓不好,但見女友們吃得暢快,應該不錯.- 燒茄子: 有肉末,似日式漁香茄子,甜甜的. ok,略嫌太糊狀.- 串燒x3(每款): 有牛舌,烟肉車厘茄,雞腎. 全屬中上水準,但不夠南亭香.- 燒飯團(木魚x2,另一個忘了): 好夠味,讚!+ sake 720ml(忘了名字)招呼殷勤而不煩擾. 無論格局,食物為食貓都非常喜歡. 價錢方面亦物有所值. 如此隱秘好店,既令本貓想到處推介

是日正值墟期,我們三人瘋狂點了:
- 高野豆腐x2: 貌似抹枱布或洗碗海綿,但極其美味. 既香甜,口感亦相當不錯,難怪是此處必點之物.

- 池魚刺身: 鮮甜,連怕腥及銀色魚皮的我也吃了少許.
- 塋光魷魚: 本貓不好,但見女友們吃得暢快,應該不錯.
- 燒茄子: 有肉末,似日式漁香茄子,甜甜的. ok,略嫌太糊狀.
- 串燒x3(每款): 有牛舌,烟肉車厘茄,雞腎. 全屬中上水準,但不夠南亭香.
- 燒飯團(木魚x2,另一個忘了): 好夠味,讚!
+ sake 720ml(忘了名字)

招呼殷勤而不煩擾. 無論格局,食物為食貓都非常喜歡. 價錢方面亦物有所值.
如此隱秘好店,既令本貓想到處推介之餘亦萌生私心,希望它繼續隱密下去,不被廣泛發現實貓就是如此精神分裂).... 應該不會有太多人看本貓的食評吧

味噌煮大腸 - 呢度嘅味噌醬汁真係煮得幾出色,食落亦幾有日本風味。大腸夠腍亦入味,又係一個佐酒嘅好選擇。

雞泡魚乾 - 講起佐酒,日本料理之中有兩樣係唔可以錯過。其中雞泡魚乾就係其一,呢度雞泡魚乾燒得好好味,跟本唔駛再加沙律醬。
酒盜芝士-另一個唔可以錯過嘅,當然就係我嘅至愛酒盜芝士,呢度芝士條味濃,魚腸漬物味道夠香夠濃,份量亦相當多,比起八王子更加正!推介!

大根煮 - 唔好以為煮白蘿蔔好簡單,食落要腍無渣入味先至叫合格,呢味大根煮絕對係中上級數,蘸少少黃芥辣食,絕對係另一個令人回味嘅經驗!

魷魚刺身 - 如果唔係有舊wasabi喺前面的話,我諗大家都以為呢個係冷烏冬,呢度食魷魚幾特別,身體部份可以當刺身食,而魷魚鬚部份就留黎做天婦羅...
魷魚天婦羅 - 呢個組合名字大家可能比較少聽到,但大家想像一下無落椒鹽嘅炸魷魚鬚,味道大約估到係點。佢跟黎亦有一碗近似喼汁嘅醬料,食落都幾好味架。
炸粟米天婦羅 - 賣相雖平庸,但口感味道都係上等佳作。另外用紫蘇葉包住嘅帶子天婦羅亦幾特別,不過首先你要接受紫蘇葉果種濃郁嘅香氣先....
燒牛脷 - 牛脷肉質食落去失色左少少,但勝在呢度師傅串燒功夫唔錯,令到平平無奇嘅牛脷串燒得相當香口,味道亦令人讚嘆不已。如可以提升牛脷返貨質素,一定更精彩!
串燒雞軟骨 - 呢個小食其實都幾難整得好難食,所以食完牛脷後已對雞軟骨抱有十足信心,果然無令我失望,燒得好香脆好鬼正~Yummy !

南蠻雞 - 有禮侍應小姐推介嘅南蠻雞,味道雖然不至難食,但食落去真係似一舊日式咕嚕雞球,而且仲要係便當盒其中一格放兩舊果種....即係點?即係唔你唔駛試~哈哈!
味噌鍋物 - 以味噌汁為主做湯底,入面有三文魚,豚肉,豆腐,冬菇,芋絲等等。款式包羅萬有,味道平平無奇,不過湯底真係唔錯,彌補唔少分數。
燒年糕 - 年糕味道較清淡,而且燒得乾左少少,咬開要用多少少力。值得讚嘅係出面緊緊包住嘅紫菜,一放低已聞到香味散發出黎,真係幾掂架!

甜品有啫喱雪糕俾你選擇,而我地叫左呢個水蜜桃果凍啫喱,SIZE都幾大架!入面舊水蜜桃又大又甜,為呢餐精彩晚飯劃上句號。

很久沒來過石山了,今天第一次和老公來食,一進店內,人不多,幾檯,在沒有訂檯下我們坐了吧檯!因為第一次來的時候,是朋友帶我來,叫送亦是朋友發板,故此不知道這裡的餐牌好特別! 有紅點的菜式有,無點的無得食! 自己又眼大,最初坐下來睇MENU時又睇唔到! 到叫個陣先知,攪到自己無乜MOOD食野! Anyway,都叫左幾個野食! (想食的都無 ...) 這裡有炸白飯魚,和"新大x"個間有些不同,各有特式! 都好味! 我們亦點了燒和牛! 正! 壽司都係ok啦! 水準之作! 麵豉煮青魚 ~ good! 燒牛舌唔錯! (但係試埋這間,都係京X勝出! )下次都會再來,希望有想食的料理啦!

Tucked away up a flight of steps in a nondescript commercial building on Lockhart Road, the only sign is a tiny street-level black and white sign with "石山". If you want authentic Japanese food, this is a good place to come. The restaurant is small and plainly decorated: stepping through the door, it's like you are transported to Japan! Its clientele is mostly Japanese, and the default menu is also Japanese. There is no English menu, but they do have an abridged Chinese menu. However, if you can't read Japanese it's better to bring a friend so that you can order from the whole menu, including the daily/seasonal specials on the wall. (The waitresses can speak Japanese and Cantonese.)

Recommended dishes include:

- house tofu (cold tofu in a dashi sauce)
- yakitori (grilled chicken skewer)
- gyudan shioyaki (grilled salted ox tongue skewer)
- stir-fried udon (it comes with a mix of veggies and the okonomiyaki sauce and mayonnaise. It's so umami and delicious -- like eating okonomiyaki but without the thick heaviness of the batter (so you can eat more of it!)
- sukiyaki, the beef tofu hotpot, both are very good (for the latter, might be a bit salty so order rice to go with it)
- did not try the sashimi or tempura, but they looked very good. Maybe next time!

This is definitely a hidden gem of Causeway Bay, and a place to take your foodie friends if you want to impress them with your knowledge of this very authentic restaurant!

老朋友囘港度假,三個老友一齊食晚飯,當然食餐好既,Book左呢間日本餐廳,之前食過幾次(平均每年一、兩次),每次都好有水準,盡慶而歸。一坐低立即每人一件豆腐,唔知點解,次次食親都覺得好好味。朋友叫了梅酒,話好飲。我唔飲酒,無意見。d wasabi 係即磨既,完全唔同出面d wasabi。好味好多。除左相片上既菜式,仲叫左燒雞翼、烏冬、燒三文魚頭等等。。。有D食得太快,來不及影相。所以唔記得左。甜品叫芝麻雪糕,我太飽喇,食唔到喇。。。

Apparently, this little Izakaya shop does not allow photoshoots, so sorry about the lack of photos. One'll however not regret visiting here to experience the food. I've had a fair few dishes from here that are interesting, whereas some probably will not suit everyone's tastebud. There are certainly many dishes here with an acquired taste, requiring a bit of open mindedness and experimental approach. Personally, I will put almost anything into my stomach, I just love eating too much.. Brillat

There are certainly many dishes here with an acquired taste, requiring a bit of open mindedness and experimental approach. Personally, I will put almost anything into my stomach, I just love eating too much.. Brillat Savarin can keep turning in his coffin !

Some recommended dishes for trying and heaps more I haven't tried either - some of them may not necesarily please everyone, but in my opinion most dishes here are executed to a very satisfactory standard. I might have remembered some names wrong and if possible they're written in Chinese or English. Please check yourself:
きょうりと赤かぶ - Some pickled cucumber and a vegetable belong to the beetroot family.
梅貝煮 - cooked but cold 螺. Cleaned thoroughly and usually quite a fresh, bitey texture.
障泥烏賊 - raw oval squid, a sweet Ika. Its actually used in famous Japanese sushi restaurants, even Michelin 3 Star ones, however its known to have a chewy texture. Done nicely by the chef with a bit of salad garnish, slices of myoga, grated wasabi, etc.
蓮根はさみ揚げ - Sandwiches of chicken meat, shiso and lotus. Sometimes, when cut too thick, certain pieces might be undercooked. When done correctly however, I really like this.
春菊の胡麻和え - Instead of spinach, using the slightly more powerful tasting 春菊, which is similar in taste to '唐O'.
焼き薩摩揚げ - Just realised reviewed below recommended this as well. Luckily, not one of the commercial, Toy'S'Rus texture like fish cakes. Great.
金山寺わさび - Sweetish beans and wasabi pickles with Cucumber pieces. I love this but its both sweet and hot.
梅くらげ - a Plum pickle/tsuke dish with little black pieces of what I think are jellyfish. Not sure, but goes perfect with rice. I have a craving for this all the time, buts it not always on the specials menu.
潤めいわし丸干し - Similar to Shishamo but this is more like a marinated sardine then grilled. Deep flavour but no fish roes.
黒豚TONKATSU - Deep Fried pork. I've had the best tonkatsu in HK in this shop so far, but its not consistent. Sometimes its top of the world albeit thin. Sometimes its really oily. Nevertheless, I'll take the gamble but perhaps not at the end of the night or on busy Friday nights, when the frying oil isn't at its freshest, best state.
若さぎ南蛮漬け/天ぷら - A smallish pond smelt fish, either marinated or tempura fried.
白魚唐揚げ - Deep Fried 白飯魚, aka 鴻星 style but bigger and much better! 佐酒良物!
油揚げ納豆包み揚げ - Fried tofu pockets with natto inside.
磯辺餅 - Seaweed with mochi. Can have this in a lot of shops too.
鱚しそ包み塩焼き - This is a whiting fish (I think) wrapped with shiso leaves then fried. Love this.
串焼き - 牛 Tongue or 鳥 very good standard. 砂肝 a little bit tough. TSUKUNE soft bones with chicken mince meet not recommended, its not good here - how disappointing as I usually love this.
ほっけ or 鯖塩焼き - These grilled fishes also good, but the first isn't recommended for Hong Kong people despite it being one of the staple foods for poor Japanese families haha.
秋田こまち - Good Japanese rice too.

Overall, the standard of the food in this shop is very high indeed plus as you can see, there're many varieties - what I've mentioned are not even 30% of the dishes here I think. It'll take me 1 year to eat them all haha!

Food range from high '2', high '3', high '4' to low '5', most in the 4 range.

We started with a cold Koya tofu (高野豆腐). It actually reminds me of the Chinese frozen tofu (凍豆腐), which is frozen to create a spongy texture with lots of holes inside. The firefly squid (蛍烏賊) was a special tonight. I'm not sure if I've had this tiny squid before in Japan, but it's pretty interesting to have as it supposedly glows in the ocean like fireflies. It's a little bit fishy, but this can be neutralized by dipping it into the honey mustard sauce provided. Pretty yummy.

The stewed beef tendons (牛筋旨煮) were pretty nice, if a little too "Chinese" to us. Surprisingly it's a bit spicy, but tender and delicious nonetheless.
I was surprised to find stewed pig intestines on the menu. I guess I never realized that this was something eaten by the Japanese. I of course love the stuff, and this version was stewed with carrots and radish - standard Japanese preparation.
The sea eel sushi (穴子すし) was a big hit. The flesh is silky soft, without the annoying bones that one finds in freshwater eel (鰻). In addition to the usual sweet soy sauce, there is a dab of a special sauce on top which was a combination of yuzu (柚子) and sansho (山椒) - giving it a slight citrus and peppery kick. We all really enjoyed it so a second round was ordered.
The spinach in sesame sauce (胡麻ほうれん草) was nice, with sprinkles of sesame seeds on top. Pretty standard fare though I can recall a pretty tragic version at Miso...
I have always loved egg-bearing smelt (子持ちししゃも) ever since I was a kid in Tokyo, and I almost always order it when I'm at an izakaya. I could have easily devoured the entire order by myself...
The grilled fishcake (焼きさつま揚げ) was somewhat of a surprise. Usually the fishcakes found in Japanese restaurants in Hong Kong taste a lot more commercial, made of mass-produced fish paste. Not so the ones at Ishiyama. They are made from minced fish and you can see and taste the difference in texture. These are so much nicer!
I had a different image of the yuzu radish (柚子大根) in my head when I placed the order. Instead of the radish being stewed so that it's soft and almost melting, the radish has been pickled and is served cold. Still, it's a pretty nice alternative to the usual oshinko (おしんこ)...
The eggplant stewed with miso (茄子味噌煮) was done with minced pork and shredded scallions. Interestingly this reminded us of the stewed eggplant with garlic and chilli (魚香茄子) that we find in Sichuan cuisine, but a sweeter version without the spice of course...
No visit to an izakaya these days is complete without ordering the deep-fried chicken cartilage (鳥軟骨唐揚げ). The ones here aren't as yummy as what I can get from Irori, but still hits the spot. I asked for shichimi (七味) for added flavor.
Deep-fried salmon skin (鮭皮塩焼き) was a little fatty and unhealthy, but sooo yummy! There is a thin layer of fatty meat underneath the skin, so this isn't as crispy as what I normally have at the Kimberley Chinese Restaurant. But still delicious.
Finally we have the Hiroshima pancake (広島焼き), a variant of okonomiyaki (お好み焼き). This is pretty thin so there's not much batter, with a layer of cabbage in the middle. The top has been sprinkled with lots of seaweed, making it pretty tasty. Coming at the end of the meal, it's pretty darn filling...

如果數正宗地道的居酒屋,除了尖沙咀,銅鑼灣也有好幾間,如和居和居、酒處、達、一番等等,而這裡,也必在列。飯局前,還有點時間,來喝一杯,吃點東西打打底,也正路。坐在吧檯的一邊,師傅將是日供應的下酒小吃列在檯上,牆上是一張張日文寫上的紙餐牌,正宗居酒屋格局。隨手選了大根煮及梅貝煮,還有少不了的當然是啤酒。與廣東人一樣,東洋人也喜歡用螺來下酒,不過只懂用醬油煮,醋拌又或鹽燒,最有風味的豉椒炒,佢地就唔識。這裡的煮得甜美,螺肉彈牙美味,絕對是下酒良品。不過當然,在東洋多用上質數較好的鳳螺,在香港,少不免是用上了東風螺,不過吃落,還不差的;蘿蔔也是用上醬油來煮,軟腍香甜,也沒有渣的,如果加碗日本米飯,是很稱職的一個晚餐。啤酒只有樽啤,沒有生啤,美中不足。侍應服務很不錯,不過又是不準拍照的,真不明白,為何拍食物照也不容許?埋單110蚊,不便宜,但正宗地道。還會有下次來吃多一點食物的。

呢度d熟野好食好多, 例如前菜, 燒物, 鍋物, 烏冬等。但我唔知, 竟然點左壽司, 每件成四十蚊左右, 超貴 。因為之前waitress話價錢係時價, 我諗住其他野唔貴, 壽司都應該ok卦。點知賴野。不過熟野唔算貴, 同埋味道係不錯的。

廣島燒算ok。
鍋燒烏冬同個素麵都ok好食既。
服務態度一般,我感覺唔到之前寫食評講個種親切。相比之下,湖舟食真係好細心好有誠意。
埋單1070, 平均每位270。呢個價話貴唔貴話平唔平,比得呢個價,我情願比多少少去湖舟食,開心好多。

The minute you walk in, you feel like you've entered a local Japanese family's home - light wooden panes and tables, an open kitchen where the chef is seen diligently working, 3 waitresses that speak chinese and japanese, and mostly japanese customeres in suits, and the occasional chinese tai tai's or powerwomen who come here coz they know it's damn good. Friend recommended this place, so a girl friend and i tried it on a Monday night. The minute you walk in, you feel like you've entered a local Japanese family's home - light wooden panes and tables, an open kitchen where the chef is seen diligently working, 3 waitresses that speak chinese and japanese, and mostly japanese customeres in suits, and the occasional chinese tai tai's or powerwomen who come here coz they know it's damn good. The place was clean and cosy, a little loud at times (coz a table of chinese people behind us were hooting and yelling over each other), but overall nice for a little conversation with friend. Despite being a smallish place, it was simply decorated, clean and bright, and the daily specials and menu are posted up along the wall (all in Japanese).

The menu was in Japanese, but the waitress immediately brought us an abridged version of the menu in Chinese, but offered to recommend other dishes to us. They were quite busy, as there are only 3 of them serving about 20-30 people, but you can see that they are genuinely friendly as most of the customers are regulars, one tai tai next to us commenting on how good the new haircut looks on the waitress. The needed reminding at first about refilling tea, but afterwards it was auto-mode, and they also changed your dishes and provided bowls etc without any prompting, plus wearing a smile for your customers always gives a good impression.

For the food we had:
3 appetizers (stewed beef tendon - a little spicy, very tender meat no stringy bits at all, seaweed root slices - very special, special tofu - skin had a nice chewy texture to it) - you can choose from a few dishes that the chef put out on the kitchen table top, then they heat it up for you. Quite big portions considering they are appetisers, some other very interesting dishes there too: whelks, seasnails, stewed fish, turnip slices etc. All looked so good!

3 types of sushi (salmon, hotate, ama ebi) - fresh, good sized portions, the ebi was glistening and still had that slightly salty seawater taste to it!

a grilled fish - small fish, sliced into half, a bit like weird looking actually, didn't know how to appreciate it, but the seasoning was good, not salty, and it definitely tasted fresh

beef and tofu pot,

mixed tempura - 2 large shrimps, lotus, mushroom, green pepper, eggplant etc... the batter was quite thin, but a bit soggy by the time it arrived, yet it didn't taste oily which was great

zhong hua cold noodles - large bowl, julienne cucumbers, ham (except it looked and tasted like the common ones you get in supermarket, those packs of pink strange-looking meat), egg slices etc... the noodel used was udon, had a great texture to it, and the sauce hit just the right spot, not too strong but brings all the flavours together nicely.

Overall the food is like what you will get if you visit a japanese friend and the mum cooks some traditional family dishes - simple but tasty. No wonder so many Japanese people come, it certainly would remind them of homecooking. Can't imagine how they survie the rent in a busy street in CWB, but i hope they keep up the good job and i'm definitely going to recommend this to anyone who wants to go to an authentic japanese restaurant that doesn't cost an arm and leg!!
