The tea set offered 8 kinds of mini pastries, tarts, cakes etc. The most impressive one was the mushroom tarts which was made fresh and served hot. The taste of the filling: mushroom and cheese was well balanced, and the cookie shell was buttery. The lamb rolls, a lovely puffy pastry were amazing too, the stuffing was juicy and flavorsome. I liked the pandan cakes too. The chef made the tea set for us was a Thai lady, and the pandan cakes of East Asian favour were very special.
The tea selection (I forget the brand name) has a wide variety of choices and was of good quality.
The place was comfy and cozy, an ideal and quiet place to meet friends in the Central. The tea set for two cost me only about $150 (member price). Definitely it’s value for money.
There are simply too many restaurants in Hong Kong and sometimes wandering around, it's a matter of analysis paralysis on where to eat, especially for lunch. I've taken to exploring the little part of HK near my work at Central, trying to find a great little place where I can fall back to when needed. I thought I'd found just the right spot when walking up the first part of Wyndham Street. Fringe Vault looks pretty cool, located in a red brick building, it reminded me of the cool little cafes th

I thought I'd found just the right spot when walking up the first part of Wyndham Street. Fringe Vault looks pretty cool, located in a red brick building, it reminded me of the cool little cafes that you'd stumble across in Melbourne. A sneaky look through the window reinforced that view, and a quick look at the all day breakfast menu convinced me that I was onto a winner.
Inside was cool, really cool. Exposed brick walls with cool artwork abounding along with polished cement floors had me convinced my meal to come would be the goods. I ordered my 'lusty big breakfast' and a hot chocolate at the counter, then made my way into the dining area for a seat to await my meal. The tables and chairs further added to the feeling of cool, all were outdoor furniture pieces that combined to give a great vibe... I felt really comfortable while sitting there, I really did.
The first sign that things were not going to go right was with the delivery of my hot chocolate.. Luke warm chocolate (at best) would probably be the best way to describe it. However, it was when my all day breakfast came that I realised you can't judge a book by it's cover: or in this instance, a restaurant by it's decor.
The lusty big breakfast came with a couple of free style eggs (scrambled), bacon, sausage, chicken chipolata, grilled potatoes and six grain toast. Not advertised with those ingredients, but coming along for the ride, was steamed carrot, broccoli and cauliflower. I have to say, it was one of the ugliest plates of food I'd ever seen, not appetising at all.
Being brave, I gave eating it a go. Bad move! The eggs were bland, oh-so-bland and overcooked; the bacon was edible (the only thing); the big chunk of tomato was cooked on the outside and not internally, so it was cold and the less said about the sausages the better. Lets just say I felt instantly sick. I didn't get to the steamed vegetables, well because, they were steamed vegetables on a breakfast plate.
I left my breakfast half eaten and walked out, feeling quite disappointed. How could a place that looked so cool, promise so much and deliver so little.... Well, lesson learned.
雖然地處中環, 但Fringe club 的人流非常少, 少得讓人幾乎不記得自己在中環! 除了地點比較隱閉之外, 也因為是中午吃飯的選擇不算多。主要是all day breakfast, sandwiches, burger一類, 比較飽肚的只有一款pasta of the day和thai curry rice。不過, 中意吃這類食物的話, 也不會覺得大問題。

There was just us and another table at 2pm on a Saturday. The cafe was quite full by 4pm though.
Service & Environment: Extremely chill. Whitewashed walls, tables set quite far apart, squishy sofa in one corner, large low-laying wooden armchairs in another. Nobody's gonna hurry you away after you finish your meal. They will simply let you be. You could sit there for the whole day reading a book sipping a coffee or an iced tea and feel no pressure to leave.
Food: Rather limited in choice compared to the Fringe Dairy (2/f of the same building, part of Fringe Club as well). It's all brunch items. Lots of egg options (free style), served with bread, spuds, greens. There's also a fish burger and chicken burger. Otherwise it's all eggs benny, all-day breakfast varietals.
I ordered a slimming veggie option (which prolly wasn't very slimming):
The bread was quite delicious. Eggs were poorly done as the yolks were completely cooked (I asked for poached eggs). Not that I like runny yolks but yeah. Everything else pretty average, nothing fancy. The baby aspargus was disappointingly old and tough. I liked the toasted bread a LOT. I think they sourced it from elsewhere.
Next time I might order scrambled eggs. Can't go too wrong there.
Rashers, links, bread, 2 freestyle eggs (sunny side up here), tomatoes, greens, beans, spuds, tomatoes.
I tried a bit of the links and didn't find them too tasty. oHwell. They're considerably yummier than the cheap "chicken sausages" they serve at cha chaan tengs and cafe de coral hahaa but still not up to the proper butcher's store stuffed sausage standard. Actually those Johnsonville brats readily available at any supermarket are reaaally good, could consider replacing these ones with them.
Carrot cake $25 Delicious piece of cake to end the meal. It was delicious. Not too sweet, no frosted cream cheese topping, perfect. It was almost as good as the one my helper makes at home. Alas it did remind me a bit of home. I must say, humble-looking but impressive. Would've been even better if it were a tad more moist!
Cappuccino (+$10 with meal, $28(?) a la carte) Fair cuppa. I enjoyed it. Not too strong, but the coffee flavour was more prominnet than that of a Starbucks cappuccino hehhh if that reference point assists at all.
Conclusion: Although the food's notsogreat I will probs be returning for...everything else, for example the relaxed atmosphere and spacious interior.
A happy and peaceful meetup with dear friends, despite the unrest in society these days. I pray that we will continue to make peace, relying on a higher power that unites us despite our divided earthly (political) views.

屬輕食類,有all day breakfast、sandwiches、salad,咖啡果汁等簡單食物。適合食個light brunch or tea。
