I didn’t realise that Bungalow served dinner (I’ve only been there at night when it transforms into a night club), so it was a very pleasant surprise when my friend recommended that we go last night. We started the night off sharing the Steamed Mussels ($168) and they were perfectly cooked – totally packed and juicy! Next came the Octopus ($148) and while I’m a huge fan of octopus, it’s always a bit of a hit-and-miss for me – it’s usually quite rubbery and chewy. So I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived and it was so tender and flavourful. The little cubes of chorizo tasted perfectly with the octopus.
I had the Grilled Pork Chop ($248) and my friend had the Smoked Duck Breast ($229). The Grilled Pork Chop was actually cooked to medium, which made the pork so much more flavourful and juicy than other you get in other restaurants. We were a bit surprised so asked the server is if was safe but they explained that as long as it’s high quality meat, you can treat pork the same way as beef.
We ordered a few sides as well, but our absolute favourite was the Truffled Mashed Potatoes ($88). It was so creamy and so packed with truffles that we would’ve gotten another order if we weren’t so full. Sadly, it doesn’t photograph very well, but don’t get the image fool you – we’ll come back just for this!
Sadly we didn’t leave enough room for dessert, but we will be back! The Pear and Almond Tart is calling my name…
Considering we ordered a feast, the bill came up to around $500 per person, which is very good value for the quality ingredients and atmosphere.
