My friend was craving for some grilled food so we originally want to visit Kushiyaki Sesson (雪村串烧) at Soho. Without any reservation, we were rejected by the waitor rudely. We then changed our plan and went try one of the restaurant under the renowned chef, Harlan Goldstein. Same situation (i.e. no reservation), but totally different treatment, My friend and I were warmly welcomed and seated. For the dishes, we ordered two mains and two sides. - Sauteed Baby Spinach & Forest Mushrooms ($58)- Grat

For the dishes, we ordered two mains and two sides.

- Gratinated White Asparagus & Parmesan ($108)
- Sea Bass, Seafood Stew ($360)

- Raviolo filled with Wagyu Beef Cheek, Foie Gras, Black Truffle Gravy ($328)

Our dinner started with the welcoming bread, Focaccia. They are warm and soft and the seasoning is just on point.

After the welcoming bread, it did took a while for them to serve our mains. But my friend and I got soooo much things to update each other. The serving time didn't bother us actually.

For the sea bass, it literally melt in your month!! BOMB! Rarely could we get a perfectly-cooked and tender fish dish in Hong Kong. And definitely you cannot miss the soup. The fish stew is just like the taste of ocean with a strong lobster flavor.

When the raviolo was served, I was immediately attracted by its black truffle/ mushroom- alike aroma. Together with the gorgeous presentation, I cannot wait to dig in. As expected, it tastes as good as it looks. The pasta is al dente while the wagyu beef cheek filling provides the creamy and silky texture. What a combination!!! 

In addition to the scrumptious dishes, the staff are super caring and considerate. There was a birthday celebration. The staff was so smart that they perfectly hid the cake and nailed the surprise to the birthday queen. 

I would highly recommend this place for any kind of celebration.

來Ee Da Le食意大利餐. 被這裡的環境佈置吸引,相約幾個朋友來這裡慶祝生日.餐廳是長方型, 地方不算太大.這裡也有很多cocktail, 叫了一款coffee味的.但酒精味蓋過了所有coffee味, 太重酒精成份了, 可能我不懂欣賞.先吃一個前菜麵包, Garlic Toast, 內裡軟綿綿, 奶油味很香. 配上醬汁很不錯!這個是Salumi served with tomato crostini, 肉質很軟, 不會太咸, 再配上蕃茄脆多士, 很開胃.baby pig- 外皮香脆, 但對於我來說肉比較多肥膏Madam Chu's Signature Linguine, 蝦肉鮮甜爽口, 意粉應該有一些大蝦汁, 非常好味!整體來說價錢都是比較貴, 但係環境舒適, 適合一班朋友來聚會!

十一月下旬·晴年末新店不少,就是天天吃也吃不完。擺花街8號這幢商廈同時開立了幾間食肆,看看幾間店子,最有興趣的就是這一家,就找個晚上約幾個食友來吃吃。店子就在這幢商廈內的3樓,呈長型的店子舖面不算很大,但奘修華美。餐廳的盡頭就是金光燦爛的酒吧,吃東西之前可以在這裡先喝一杯。至於我,這天東奔西跑忙了一天,來一杯Gin & Tonic順順喉就最好的了。侍友人到齊,大家七咀八舌的將菜點好。前菜由冷盤開始吃,忌廉芝士一向是蕃茄的好朋友,簡簡單單的加入橄欖油及陳醋已好吃。雖云簡單,但這道菜的味道全靠放在內的幾款食材的水準。這裡的做得很不錯,忌廉芝士軟滑而富奶香,復古蕃茄酸甜合度之餘也水份充足,甜香十足的陳醋更是整道菜式的亮點。只讓我選一味前菜冷盤來吃,這會是我的選擇。忌廉芝士加蕃茄以外,另一道也對口味的就是紅菜頭沙律。近年不知何解,是越來越喜歡吃紅菜頭。稔稔甜甜的味道加上紅中帶紫的顏色,是不怕多吃的健康食物。這裡還加上了以紅菜頭打成的忌廉,更添香滑口感。前菜的熱盤選擇之中,最喜歡的就是烤八爪魚了。很欣賞大廚的八爪魚是做得非常的軟嫩,味道也是鮮甜的。更好吃的就是墊底的忌廉藉蓉,配合在一起就是邪惡的

前菜的熱盤選擇之中,最喜歡的就是烤八爪魚了。很欣賞大廚的八爪魚是做得非常的軟嫩,味道也是鮮甜的。更好吃的就是墊底的忌廉藉蓉,配合在一起就是邪惡的美味。

澱粉質主菜方面,一來就是扁麵及意大利麵。前者是加入了地中海紅蝦,那無論扁麵做得如何的好吃,也不會及紅蝦吸引。尤其是紅蝦的蝦頭,更是人間美味。意大利麵就加入了皇帝蟹的蟹腳肉,澎湃的蟹肉啖啖鮮甜,當然吸引。

還有的就是龍蝦意大利飯,加入了鮮美的龍蝦湯去煮的,當然就是美味非常。只要吃過這幾味澱粉質主菜,會看得出大廚是如何的懂得客人的口味,在幾款海鮮的配搭及調味中,總會抓到菜式受歡迎的方程式。

肉類主菜方面,也來兩味。不用說,我最期待的就是烤牛扒,這真的是從深灣年代吃到現在也一樣喜歡的。用上的是肉眼扒,烤得外皮微微焦脆,而內裡是嫩滑且肉味濃郁。在火候的拿握上,仍然是高水準。席上有不吃牛肉的朋友,所以也點了餐牌上的烤雞。挑了最厚肉的雞胸去吃,肉汁充盈也毫不乾身,也不錯。

看甜點餐牌,驟眼看就有Tiramisu及Affogato兩個熟悉的名字。但原來當侍應將其拿上來的時候,就知道是完全不同的。因為分別是加入了以液態氮冷卻的杏仁酒及朱古力杏仁酒,吃下去口感及味道都頗不一樣,有趣。如只鐘情於傳統甜點的,這裡也有意式泡乎及脆卷等選擇。席上朋友也點了前者,只是我已吃夠甜點,沒試了。

綜觀整個餐牌,前菜就是百多,澱粉質主菜是二百多而肉類主菜就是三百多,甜點就統統百元有找。以這裡的地點,絕對是合理的收費。

上次帶兩位姐姐來食意菜話非常好食。 二家姐希望我為她們安排結婚週年晚飯在這裡慶祝. 在兩星期前已訂6位(因上次星期一來都好full及加上個日是星期五).  另外想家姐有驚喜,想廚師做一個細朱古力CAKE比我, 不久他們就回覆答應了.當日姐姐他們7:00已到, 我就7:30到已差不多坐滿人, 他們等我時食晒我至愛香草飽, 我都唔好意思叫waiter比多一客( 因太好味及free), 約8點已坐滿人, 仲有外國人在外等位 . 食完飽後waiter 問我地想飲0的咩, 我地都無咩心水, waiter好好禮貌問我地的喜好而調了幾杯cocktail (味道都唔錯).    之後等了一陣waiter自動來前菜  (我想姐姐他們有一個順利快樂晚宴, 前天我已經點了菜及叮囑某些事項, waiter及廚師都好細心地樂意為我們安排)最後一道菜是服務員拿著我先前預備的永生花(意思永遠恩愛) 及噴著煙花的朱古力撻, 家姐及姐夫勁驚喜開心 .晚飯約$3000 , 姐夫比錢時話價錢合理, 仲話Menu內有羊扒下次一定要試 (原來姐夫都鐘意食牛及羊) .  另外,樓上的墨西哥菜是同一公司,  我都希望搵日試下

之前同朋友已去過一次食午餐今晚同朋友慶祝生日再黎試試晚飯一樣咁出色 而且價錢合理(中環價但係比起其他中環西餐唔算太離地)個晚因為朋友就快結婚 掛住傾計都無點樣影野食相但剛好當晚我覺得最好食的個度菜就影左Black Ink Spaghetti $428有唔少阿拉斯加蟹肉 再加上海膽同埋魚子非常非常好食! 👌當晚服務亦非常周到我地其實好早食完但真係太多野傾 所以食完後都坐左差唔多一個小時當然餐廳裡面仲有唔少其他客人但完全無被趕客既感覺最後附上個daily special menu所以下次去唔一定係一樣架!

我地其實好早食完

但真係太多野傾 所以食完後都坐左差唔多一個小時

當然餐廳裡面仲有唔少其他客人

但完全無被趕客既感覺

最後附上個daily special menu

所以下次去唔一定係一樣架!

We made the reso 2days ahead and were seated right at the door entrance. No problem I figured, since a packed restaurant is always better than an empty one.
No one came to introduce their menu but we ordered a chopped salad, a slow cooked octopus, lobster pasta and a snow crab pasta. Then the bread came and it was crusty (felt like it was oven warmed more than once).
Chopped salad was normal, nothing too exciting. Octopus was nice and well sous vide'd. Though not cheap for such a small portion. My girlfriend was half way through her salad and the waitress asked if she was done. (Weird!). When she said she's working on it, the waitress asked if we would like the pastas to be served regardless. (More weird). We felt being rushed through.
When the pastas came, they looked like they were swimming in sauces. Both sauces tasted the same, and there was A LOT of sauces. Pasta was al dente and hand made. (Brownie point). Lobster was done just right but tasteless. Any experienced waiter should have reminded us if there base if these sauces were the same. I finished my pasta faster than my gf and while she was finishing her crab pasta at a slower pace, the waitress came again to offer to collect her plate (there was crab meat in there still and it was an over $400 plate pasta)!
For dessert, I ordered a classic tiramisu. Turned out its not Classic at all. Coffee in the lady fingers didn't taste strong enough and the over powering sweetness from the sugars and banana just overkilled it. There was more than 4/5 of it left but nobody asked us why.
Before we asked for the bill, the bill arrived and we were asked if we were ready for the bill.
Overall food is so so. Not authentic for sure. Service was bad. Won't go back.

We asked the waitress (in a very nice tone) whether we could have pasta and dessert as a substitute for starter, because we didn't like any of the starters and that the menu is different from the one online.

She blatantly said no and that it is only because they change their menu every week, and asked us to order from the a la Carte menu instead.

Given their website says 'lunch THIS WEEK', it is obvious that it is not up-to-date, but the waitress was not apologetic at all and simply offered no help.

Food-wise:
Pasta was of good quality, however the flavours were Asian-fusion rather than Italian... Definitely not 'rustic italian' as stated on their website.
Panna cotta has way too much gelatine in it... And the digestives biscuit crumbs were poor accompaniments to the panna cotta

This first looks a little funky for a rustic Italian restaurant but I like the Italian opera-skirt inspired lampshades combining well with the predominantly wooden interior.

Another starter was one of my all-time favorite Italian dish - Fritto di calamari. These crispy squid rings were nicely coated with a light crisp batter and served with two different dips, garlic tomato sugo and chili pickle mayo. Yum~ (Grade: 3.5/5)

Chef Harlan has always been exceptionally good with sous vide salmon so the 44 degree slow-cooked salmon was the easy choice for me from the set menu.

The salmon fillet was really nice and soft with that melt-in-your-mouth texture but I thought the pumpkin orzo was a little too sweet as I would much prefer something a little more powerful (such as acidic) for an extra added kick to the flavors (Grade: 4/5).

I can always count on Chef Harlan's homemade pasta and I just know I can't go wrong with this pappardelle with wild forest mushrooms, pancetta, smoked egg and grated D.O.P. Pecorino. It was soooo goood...(Grade: 4.5/5)

I really enjoyed Penthouse by Harlan so was excited to try this place. Unfortunately it was underwhelming.Octopus- My favourite of the night. Very tender. Beetroot- I love beetroot and order it everywhere but this was awful. Strong pistachio essence taste which just didn't mesh well. The other puree which accompanied were not yummy either. I really enjoyed Penthouse by Harlan so was excited to try this place. Unfortunately it was underwhelming.

Octopus- My favourite of the night. Very tender.

Beetroot- I love beetroot and order it everywhere but this was awful. Strong pistachio essence taste which just didn't mesh well. The other puree which accompanied were not yummy either. The balance of the dish was off. We didn't finish and sent it back.

Scarmorza al forno- A hit at our table, the ham and melted cheese was tasty. The truffle honey sauce had a note reminiscent of molasses which I felt was over powering and would benefit from being reduced.

We had two pastas the tagliatelle bolognese and the spaghetti crab. Both were good but not excellent. The bolognese could have been richer in flavour. The crab in the spaghetti was fresh and sweet however we all felt that at over 400 it was overpriced.

Suckling pig- This was well cooked, the meat was juicy and tender however the seasoning was a little patchy with some parts being seasoned and others not at all.

Puff- The puff was fresh with a nice texture. With ice cream, hazelnut and chocolate you can't really go wrong. It was yum however I would have enjoyed it more if the taste of the hazelnut and chocolate was more intense.

In summary our meal was mediocre, quality ingredients but lacking finesse in execution. I won't be in a hurry to return. At this price point there are many other Italian restaurants I prefer with delicious dishes and better service.

頭盤四選一,一睇餐牌就決定叫佢 -- potato hash with slow cake egg! 上菜時,同事都嘩咗一聲,我就不禁偷笑😏(果然識揀!)從賣相到味道都係冇得輸,出面嘅potato hash一般都將薯仔切粒,炒到油笠笠,但呢個hash將薯仔打蓉,軟滑兼帶煙肉油香,加埋隻流心蛋,個頭盤已經贏咗一半!


到主菜出場:黑松露磨菇火箭菜pizza(8/10)、慢煮三文魚配蒜片蝦加南瓜有機飯(10/10)、香辣蕃茄忌廉通粉(7/10)、傳統紐約肉丸蕃茄意粉(6/10)、哥打芝士漢堡飽配炸蕃薯薯條(8/10)!

!由於係慢煮,魚軟滑不留口,仲留有少少魚油甘香;蝦亦鮮甜彈牙,絶冇雪味!


Pizza睇落平平無奇,但味道一流!芝士+淡淡黑松露油、磨菇+薄脆餅底,唔夠10秒即被K.O.!

漢堡飽最surprising嘅絕對係塊漢堡扒!濃郁豐富嘅牛肉汁混合咗多種香料,冇美式巨型漢堡嘅霸氣同油膩感,值得一讚!


相比其他主菜,兩個意粉就爭少少(其實都好味)。

最後,問咗侍應是日甜品係乜東東,佢話係Tiramisu,不過佢話個份量頗細,建議我地叫a la carte,話份量會大D之餘,亦會有「煙」。呢份Tiramisu簡直係成個中秋大餐嘅高潮,同時畫上一個完滿嘅句號。先講視覺,用個好似恐龍蛋殻嘅碗裝住,望落一啲都唔似Tiramisu, 然後由侍應倒上一殼疑似忌廉嘅物體,爆出乾冰嘅輕「煙」,視覺一流!
至於味道亦有別於傳統Tiramisu,加咗香蕉同用咗份子料理式嘅忌廉脆脆,超好味呀!

下一道菜是Red prawns linguine($488).兩隻大蝦擺在意粉的正中間。蝦肉鮮甜爽口,連蝦皮都烤得很香。意粉的汁我感覺像龍蝦汁(或許是大蝦的汁也不一定),味道很濃很香。我覺得意粉本身有點點偏硬,可能與我喜歡吃’軟飯’有關,我愛吃軟一點的食物,所以對於我來說這邊的意粉煮得偏硬少少,整體味道還是很棒。

最後一道是Baby Pig($290).這道菜需時大概半小時,所以最後才上的,建議大家想吃可以先下單。這個感覺有點像烤豬肉,豬皮很薄很脆但不會很硬,皮下面有一層厚厚的fat,豬肉反而佔比例較少。吃起來很香很香,罪惡感十足!我們兩人買單約1100塊,價錢有點貴,味道不錯,有興趣的朋友可以去試試看喔♥

We went there to eat Italian, but it was actually Cantonese- Italian fusion cuisine, and this would have been also acceptable, if the restaurant was actually advertised like that. But, even from the sign in the entrance, you can see that the restaurant was conceived as a "Rustic Italian" restaurant and this is clearly not the case.
Every dish, even the most simple like bruschetta, was messed up and nothing actually followed italian recipes or traditions. The staff is all local and they actually cook local food! It's wrong to talk about Italian restaurant and Italian cuisine if it's basically managed by locals.

Risotto is completely wrong because rice is cooked in the wrong way, too much water and oil, I believe taleggio was actually poor quality gorgonzola, and we could not see black truffle in the plate. And even the plate the risotto was served in is wrong, since it is supposed to be a flat dish.

The pizza was a piece of bread reheated from the night before, too small, no high quality tomato, but again stracciatella bought in bulk.

In the recipe it is said that the suckling pig is made in the Roman Style, slow cooked, but i guess it was heated in the microwave. And the same dish in a Chinese restaurant would cost less than half with a much bigger portion.

Bruschetta was made with stracciatella and not burrata, tomato was left out for a long time and it was too sour.

What is absolutely unacceptable is the tiramisu, called by the chef "bananamisu".

The scariest is that someone local will go to Ee Da Le, try some of its dishes and then go to Italy on holiday...amazed to find that the Italian cuisine is completely different.
