We made a reservation for 4 on Monday, just to be safe. Although, Monday's tend not to be busy. We were seated immediately when we arrived the restaurant and water was provided within two minutes of being seated. There was a Monday night special of the second main course ordered is 50% off. There was a Monday night special of the second main course ordered is 50% off. We did not know about this prior to arriving so, it was a pleasant surprise.

Our first choice of red wine was not available however, when the waiter returned to our table he not only informed us the wine wasn't available but was able to make recommendations for other equivalent wines. We ordered one of the recommended wines.

We were two couples so we ordered two frapas with 4 each. We were a bit confused by the pricing and the way it was presented on the menu. The waiter explained the price was for one serving which is just for one person. We continued with ordering four of both, enough for each person in our party.

We went on to order two Tomahawk steaks medium rare with four sides. The waiter alerted us that it would be a minimum thirty minute wait and we were okay with it. The steaks arrived within thirty minutes and we were satisfied with how they were cooked.

When we went to order desert we were not made aware that there was a wait for the soufflé. As a result we were a bit concerned that our deserts were forgotten about as it took more than twenty minutes. When they arrived we were quickly forgot about the wait because they were absolutely delicious.

Overall, we had a great dinner and would recommend this restaurant for dates or catching up with friends. The food was delicious and the staff knowledgeable on all the items on their menu.

跟家人進午餐 選址在灣仔譚臣道的法國餐 12:00來到 店內環境一流 餐牌有兩款 父母愛吃牛 由頭盤green salad/carrot soup 父母大愛salad 我就非常喜歡這個carrot soup 濃濃的而且不creamy 。主菜有加$40的牛臉 或者牛扒 或者beef tartar 我們都點了 各人都愛 我的是beef tartare 酸酸少少辣 非常合意。甜品banana cake with ice-cream, 都覺得正!還有expresso/tea 只需要$150加一 , buy 3 get 1 free, 在灣仔或銅鑼灣想吃個fast gourmet 這裹真的值得推介 。

Appetizer sea bass tartare, cauliflower salad. 兩樣都酸到爆。除左super lemon 外未食過咁酸嘅嘢。Main course grilled iberico shoulder foie gras. 有d 似食牛。Desert passion fruit ice cream。都係勁酸。最唔掂係果個外藉經理。同佢講d 食物太酸,佢回應話道菜應該係咁酸。完全唔理客的感受其中一杯白酒oxidized,呢個經理仲狡辯話支酒開得耐左結論:無下次

帶子的味道同平時吃的日本帶子有點兒不同,廚師將帶子切成簿片狀,配上帶有酸味的蘋果及生薑醋汁,挺開胃~ 再加上西班牙香腸粒,令前菜整個口感更豐富~ 每道菜也會配上一杯酒,待應亦會上前作簡單的介紹,而前菜配的白酒挺易入口,且酒精味不會過重,味道唔錯~

(3) 烤西班牙黑毛豬, 西班牙黑毛豬豬肩, 西洋菜, 块根芹, 梨肉, 黑橄欖汁

烤黑毛豬和豬肩味道都ok,但小編覺得黑毛豬的邊位有點兒硬,唔夠軟且唔夠肉汁~ 配菜味道大致上都唔錯,充滿黑橄欖汁的味道~ 這道主菜也是配以紅酒品嚐, 但這款紅酒冇之前那隻咁酸, 而且入口更有層次~

(4) 烤菠蘿, 蔗糖, 朗姆酒, 雲呢拿, 百香果, 椰子和白巧克力雪糕

雪糕食入口以百香果味道為主, 小編食不到椰子和白巧克力的味道~ 雖然只有百香果的味道, 但配上餅乾碎一起食都幾好味~ 而烤菠蘿及西柚配上醬汁一齊食都好好食~ 這道甜品配的酒是香檳, 入口時起初沒有特別味道, 但當酒去到喉嚨後那種甜味慢慢滲出黎, 幾特別~

We visited this place for brunch on a Saturday.We ordered the 180$ brunch set. First issue, the pastries are not homemade. They are industrially made by a factory. We could even tell which one since they also provide some other bakery chains in HK (confirmed by one of my friend at the table who used to be the Head of Purchase for one of them...) The beef tartare however was good.

Now, this is where our WORST experience in a HK restaurant starts. 
We ordered wine. To be precise, a Saint Emilion Grand Cru. Being born and raised in the region, I am very used to drink this wine and know it very well. 

The server opens the bottle and gives me the cork. The cork had a very bad color. Deep purple, almost black. I could already tell there was a problem with the bottle. Then I smelled it. Strong vinegar smell. I taste the wine and just like I suspected, the wine was very bad (especially for a 650HKD bottle). I asked my friend, who is a Chef at a World Famous French Cooking School in HK, to try as well. He also said the wine was very bad. The server himself tried the wine and we could tell from his face that the issue was obvious and clear. 
I asked him to take it back and bring me the Wine list. Instead, he went for the Restaurant Manager. A French Woman. She came at the table very aggressively asking if she could try the wine (which is already unacceptable in the F&B industry). She did and start pretending that, I quote, "there was absolutely nothing wrong with the bottle and that the wine was perfect". I insisted saying it has a very bad taste and it was very far from what I am used to drink almost everyday when I am home in France. She started to imply that we knew nothing about wine and kept saying this is what a Saint Emilion Grand Cru tastes like. 
Anyway, I told her to go get me the wine list. Since Bordeaux wines are clearly not their strong suit, we ordered a Burgundy which was very good. She went to get it after dropping a very aggressive "I hope you will like this one better".

On top of everything, we had to wait for 1 hour to get our dishes even though the place was empty...

We will clearly never go there again. Worst experience in HK I have ever had in 7 years living here.

中午一個簡單商務午餐,找了一個較為清靜的餐廳,在繁闹灣仔中的一條小街,其實路過多次,但一直以為只是賣餐酒的,後來朋友介紹才知道別有洞天。 經過地下店鋪,上樓梯後再走過一個酒櫃區,賣的基本都是法國酒,“餐飲”區就在酒區的另一邊,地方也不算小。可恨的是lunch不能喝酒,白白糟蹋了這刻酒意澎湃的氣氛。 Biz lunch 的時間關係,就點了最簡單的set lunch,食物也很快的上桌。 頭盤是南瓜湯配煙肉條,濃濃的南瓜湯很是暖胃,加上一塊脆口的烤煙肉條,居然很好的配搭。 主菜我點了七成熟的牛排,燒汁帶點酸酸的,很能中和牛排的肥膩,咬勁也非常合適。 甜品是65度朱古力mousse及小蛋糕,mousse十分軟滑,chocolate味道香濃,150圆能吃到這水準的法國午餐,夫複何求! 店主是個法國lady,也有親自来招待,也幫我們介紹一些实惠的法國酒。飯是吃了一百五十元,但不自覺地買酒就花了我一千多大洋,果然是高深莫測的銷售技巧,佩服佩服!

fantastic food and wineI ordered tasting menu and it goes really well.the only thing I would suggest is the second wine with scallop can use a more mineral and dry flavour rather than a fruity wine.

呢間唔起眼既法國餐廳八月份第一次同日本朋友嚟食! 一真都約緊其他三五知己再來! 知佢啱啱轉左tasting menu , 無可能唔嚟試啦! 其實啲菜式叫咩名,我真係完全唔記得! 而且menu 係可以選擇跟酒同唔跟酒既,因為當日我有啲不適,所以就無跟。 因為八月嚟過, 佢係每度菜跟一款唔同既酒, 等你既口感更加豐富! 我唔細講個度菜係咩,我真係只可以形容為:好好食! 每碟菜既整體口感,擺設,都係融為一體! 而且你除左食到佢地既心思,更食到佢地既執著! 連頭盤既牛油都係自家製! 好多人都會覺得食法國菜係咪要食幾個鐘?同每樣都好細細碟? 只要你嚟過, 你就唔會覺得自己坐左係到多過一個鐘,仲會對依間餐廳有依依不捨既感覺! 咁當然我覺得唔可以個個星期都食既, 因為一個人其實都要500-600 既, 但係節日慶祝or 每個月我相信都可以嚟支持一次吧!( 其實呢間食評我真係覺得好難用文字去表達到佢既美食, 建議大家真係去試,不過記得要book 位!! )而且老闆娘仲會親自問你意見,之後作參考改進!

我對wine沒有鑽硏也缺天份,只憑感覺喜歡與否,餐後網上再搜尋資料..Riesling原來不是德西獨有,我真鄉巴佬.首嚐Alsace Riesling,Heissenberh意解"hot mountain",特殊的pink sandstone土壤孕育出包含濃郁礦物質和力量的酒體,干身,甜酸平衡得宜,配襯魚類,白肉和鵝肝均頗恰當.

{炙燒紅呑拿魚配香煎鴨肝,濃縮紅莓醋汁,新鮮水果}

個人而言,覺得呑拿魚跟鴨肝好像不太搭檔,鴨肝的濃郁掩蓋吞拿魚的雅淡,雖然紅莓汁可平衡鴨肝的肥膩,可是襯呑拿魚就顯得太強烈.

波爾多白酒,色澤明亮,清爽薄身,柑橘味酸度平衛,適合配魚,蜆類及家禽.純粹個人口味而言,跟首個頭盤互換就更相得益彰.

羊鞍煎烤得腬稠,沒有太濃羶味,伴以鷹嘴豆紅菜頭再淋上肉汁,配以芥末醬,整體味道口感調和,烹調出色,不過擺碟還有改進空間.

{朱古力淋醬,榛子慕斯荳蔻雪糕朱古力碎檸檬忌廉}

巧克力及荳蔻雪糕各一,蛋糕或曲奇的物體質地很硬,原意沾上雪糕進食?可是連义也拮不進用手又不方便,就令人有點狼狽,最使人困惑是榛子慕絲的處理,不大美觀..看見有些倒胃口..

網上資料,Sauternes產於石灰岩高原,色澤金黃,口味典雅帶菠蘿荔枝蜜餞味道的甜葡萄酒,發展很好,襯上巧克力甜點本來很好,只略嫌此甜點巧克力不夠甘苦.

以wine dinner而言,餐點份量適中,選酒也恰當;真正品酒的人仕大多食量不大,同行朋友就沒能把羊肉和甜點吃得完.不過酒還可以小酙多杯;雖然她未必如大台出爐港女般"粗"得,不過"姿"&"識"毫不輸蝕,性價比同這餐晚飯一樣不低..

Le Bistro Winebeast is one of my favorite French bistro in Hong Kong with its quality food and reasonable prices, and I was glad to learn that it moved to a bigger and better location! One of its main selling point is that the wines at the restaurant are priced exactly the same as their retail shop so you're not forced to pay higher prices unlike most other restaurants. My only complaint of the old shop was the cramped spaces and uncomfortable seating which was hard for frequent visits so the ne

We came here for dinner and had the 4-course tasting menu for $458 plus wine pairing for an additional $100 which is such an amazing meal. The tasting menu changes every 4-6 weeks but you can order a la carte dishes as well which contains most of its signature dishes.

On top of our tasting menu, we had an appetizer platter where you can choose from a variety of Frapas (French Tapas) at $38 for 1 Frapa, $68 for 2, $98 for 3, and $128 for 4. We had the Beef Tartare, Croquette of Haddock Brandade, and Homemade Hummus, and my favorite was of course the famous beef tartare with smoked chili, red onion pickles, basil oil and coriander!

The first dish of the tasting menu was the Sea Bass Tartare with pineapple marmalade, red onion, and cream of horseradish. I liked the tartare as it was fresh but I thought the pineapple marmalade was a tad too sweet which overwhelmed the flavors of the fish.

I loved the beautiful and colorful plating of the Seared Red Tuna and Pan-fried Foie Gras with reduced raspberry vinegar jus and fresh fruits, but there was a bit too much going on with all the different sauces and fruits so I'm not sure what I'm supposed to focus on.

However, the Braised Beef Cheek with grilled new onion, horseradish jus, and spring onion oil was executed beautifully with rich flavors and tender textures.

The Strawberry dessert was also outstanding with strawberry and lemongrass coulis, marshmallow, vanilla and wasabi mascarpone, and strawberry sorbet. It wasn't the first time I had wasabi in dessert and it was very well-balanced here!

Winebeast has been one of my favourite bistros in town. I've always adored their extensive wine list..not to mention their wonderful wine pairing meal and their courteous service.It was my first time coming here for lunch and it didn't disappoint me a bit. It was my first time coming here for lunch and it didn't disappoint me a bit. I got myself their lunch set - Fast Gourmet, which promised to be ready in 45 mins, and includes a salad or soup, a main, a dessert, and a coffee/tea.

The salad and the main came at once. Salad - a pile of rocket leafs covered with sliced green apples, pine nuts, cherry tomatos, drizzled with sweet balasamic vinegar and olive oil. The ingredients of the salad were all very fresh and that the size was pretty generous

Main of the day was pan seared sea bass. Topped with capers, herbs and chopped veggies, seared with light lemon butter sauce, which did not adulterate the delicate flavor of seabass, but instead brought out the fresh flavor of the fish.

Last but not least - dessert & coffee. Dessert of the day was almond cake with vanilla icecream. The almond cake was slightly dry, the texture was more biscotti-like. It was ok when paired with the icecream, but when the icecream was done, it was hard to have the cake by itself.

I enjoyed the lunch a lot! For the value, the quality of the food, and the atmosphere, I'd definitely come back again!

三份Frapas,各有特色。Home Made Hummus鷹咀豆泥十分幼滑,普通吃或塗麵包都不錯。Octopus Salad醋香濃郁,但八爪魚可能少了點。最好吃還是Beef Tartare,毫不吝嗇的牛肉份量,一只小小的鵪鶉蛋黃,加入了煙燻椒粒來調味,是非常好的下酒良品。

第一道菜是Sea Bass Tartare,鱸魚與其說是韃靼,不如說更像carpaccio,配上菠蘿果醬,味道十分清新。不怕辣,可以混和綠色的辣根醬一起吃,帶點刺激,讓人更加開胃。

由於鱸魚的味道較清,所以點方特意挑選了ALSACE Les Vieilles Vignes de Sylvaner 2014,這枝酒酸度較高,不會太甜,能讓鱸魚味道更佳。

第二道菜Seared Red Tuna and Pan-fried Foie Gras同樣是海鮮,也是我全晚最喜歡的。紅吞拿魚燒得外熟內嫩,配合濃縮紅莓醋汁,和第一道菜一樣都是以果會肉,貫徹清新感覺,另一方面,味道又慢慢偏向濃郁。最美妙的,還是那件香煎鴨肝,外脆內軟,配合醋汁,一試難忘。

鴨肝配紅酒,這枝Pierre Damoy Bourgogne Rouge 2011算是較中性,無論酸度和甜度都不過火,配吞拿魚或鴨肝都有不錯的效果。

接下來是Braised Beef Cheek,這道法國家常菜,差不多每間法式餐館都有。牛臉頰經過紅燒,外表粗糙,但再經長時間煮燉,肉質卻非常軟腍,處理得十分理想。

最後的甜品,名字十分簡單,單字一個Strawberry。話雖如此,製作一點都不馬虎,草莓雪葩配香茅草莓汁在一邊,另一邊則是燒棉花糖、新鮮雜莓配香草山葵瑪斯卡波尼芝士醬汁。前者消暑消滯,後者以微量的wasabi來為水果調味,味道不會太刺激,但又十分有趣,感覺連水果也變得更甜了。

從前沒有太特別留意Eco-Friendly Wine,多謝Le Bistro Winebeast,這晚其中兩道菜所配的,正是Eco-Friendly Wine。味道和一般的酒沒兩樣,但可能是心理作用,喝下喉頭,感覺好像更舒服。

一來到,先來一杯Champagne,很多人都喜歡香檳,喜歡她的泡泡,喝因為有汽泡,所以特別易醉;所以,我不太常喝的,免得變成醉娃要人抬我回家。說回這支Champagne,雖然不是年份酒,但入口十分balance,酸度不會太高,充滿了果香,價格上亦相宜,不錯呢。

這可是這店頗受歡迎的食物,牛肉新鮮,在調味上與其他餐廳有點不同,大部份的都是加入capers,但這裡的則加入了red onion pickles;而你問我喜歡那種味道多些? 也許覺得加入capers味道會酸些,味道好像好一點,當然亦視乎個人口味吧。

Sylvie Spielmann Grand Cru "Kanzlerberg" 2009

這Riesling用了biodynamic方法來種植提子,更加天然呢;屬於trocken,fruity之餘,充滿了礦物味,body亦屬於medium (-),各樣特質都很balance,個人覺得這支酒用來配海鮮、白肉或煮法比較輕盈的紅肉都是不錯的。

外表做得不錯的,當中的是豬肉,而鵝肝則在那層酥皮上,吃時要混在一起,這樣子味道則更濃郁了。

另一支酒則是來自Loire的,提子品種為Chenin Blanc,這提子的味道較為淡輕盈,所以這支酒亦比較light body,味道上都是典型的白酒,如citrus,個人來說,比較喜歡上一款的Riesling。

Domaine Marcel Deiss Riesling Vendanges Tardives, Alsace, France

而我們則以這支甜酒來配甜點,這同樣都是Riesling,但味道和剛才那支Riesling的味道是截然不同的,因為這屬於Vendanges Tardives,即是代表late harvest,即是提子會變成提子乾,糖分都鎖在當中,所以便會帶甜香;而這支甜酒,都是典型的甜酒味道,酸度高,帶蜜糖味,用來配甜品是不錯的。有些人覺得,吃甜品時還是配上甜酒,不會甜上加甜嗎? 其實不是的,兩者合而為一時,那甜度是會減低的,所以下次不要這樣對人說了。
