This place is just bad all around. Not sure if all Pokka Cafes are this damn generic but this one is just awful.
First there is the ridiculously gaudy interior. Makes you feel like you're eating somewhere nice, if this was the 1970s. But it's not, this is 2016 and the place is in need of a facelift. Maybe say bye to tacky chandeliers for a start. This is a mid range cafe not your grandma's living room.
The food is just stupid. The set dinner I got comes with a "salad" consisting of what the menu described as prosciutto. It was 6 pieces of lettuce with a sloppily placed slice of prosciutto drenched in SESAME dressing. Sorry but since when did meat from Spain need to be doused in "oriental" dressing? Since never.
The carbonara pasta is basically a puddle of creamy milky sauce with not only bacon but chicken and BELL PEPPERS. Good Lord. What the hell are BELL PEPPERS doing in CARBONARA. Rhetorical question.
And they didn't even bother to give me my drink which was included, until after we paid and I specifically asked, "may I have my drink". Lame, inattentive service.
The others in my party got sizzling Korean rice with chicken. Big mistake, as this place is essentially like eating ethnic food in the middle of Kansas. It's not going to be done right. The rice had no taste and the chicken was chewy. No traits of Korean cuisine whatsoever sans the gimmicky bowl it came in.
The udon is also equally gimmicky, served in gigantic bowl with a large wooden spoon for the mere affect of it having to do with Japan when really you could get a better bowl of noodles from a pack of ramen. Ok maybe it wasn't that bad but the giant bowl and ladle aren't going to make the food taste better.
I can't believe people willingly come here to eat. Fine, enjoy a cup of coffee but skip the food.
