After wandering and exploring Sheung Wan district for more than one and a half hours on a Saturday morning, I finally walked back to IFC for a good sit-down and late breakfast. I was craving for omelette but ended up going to Open Kitchen when many were closed despite the 75-minute limit. It was really charming inside with a big floral bouquet and many shimmering glasses. I was pleased to sit at the sofa with this long, unoccupied dining table right in front of me. The music helped to soften the noise and busy footsteps. I had Omelette with Ham, Mushrooms, Spinach, Cheddar Cheese, and Farm Fries and Iced Tea. The portion was quite big on top of the sourdough and baguette breads served. The fresh sourdough had an open crumb so it was moist and chewy with a crunchy, nutty crust. The Iced Tea was fruity and thirst quenching. The omelette on the other hand wasn't what I had expected. The look just reminded me of Japanese omelette rice--it was bloated. When I cut into halves, I didn't like this thick egg curd pocket as I was expecting French style fluffy egg folds; however, the fillings were savory with smoking hot cheese and ham. The farm fries tasted exactly like the seasoned curly fries with paprika, pepper, garlic and onion powder.
All in all, I enjoyed this hearty brunch even though I would not have omelette here again.
