Marked by a boundless open kitchen with chefs and staffs cooking and working for guests, the Open Kitchen is a very welcoming bistro cafe that is part of the Simplylife restaurant group in Hong Kong. While the restaurant offers some grab-and-go likes freshly pre-made healthy salad, sandwiches and tray-baked pastries, there is also a dine-in area to serve a multiple selection of European inspired dishes.
Be seated next to the magnificent view of the Central pier, we have sampled some quality brunch dishes from them during the afternoon weekend.
First served on the table is a wooden board full of assorted rustic bread with a slab of butter. The crusty French baguette is very satisfying whereas the dark rye is soft and moist.
Complement with a daily pumpkin soup, it is however as thick as simply pumpkin puree, which is a little under seasoned too.
Nonetheless, the signature caesar salad has been generously portioned as a seamless blend of grilled chicken, crunchy romaine lettuce, few pieces of garlic croutons and the perfect soft-boiled egg.
The handmade linguine impresses much for its memorable plating and kind serving of crab meats.
Favourite is undoutedly the beer-battered orange roughy that has been deep fried excellently crispy with a moist and flaky interior. It is also great to have a fresh grapefruit juice or lime ginger ale along the side.
Surely the Open Kitchen at IFC is always ready to serve a good lunch or brunch sets.
