Just a weekday night dine out for no reason. I have been to this place years ago and remember the food was good and it is still good. This time I didn’t make reservation and the hostess (a white lady) took us to the worst table in the restaurant, and there was only 2 tables taken (all small party). I thought all tables were booked so I didn’t ask to change. When we finished our dinner, there were only 2 more tables were taken by the walk-in customers (same as us), they all got the nice table

If there wasn’t any booking why can’t I have a better table when there is not much of business.
I won’t go back again. There is plenty of good Italian restaurants with good services!!! Nevertheless, they are not cheap either!

It was my daughter's 10-year-old birthday, and we decided to celebrate this at Panevino. As per my daughter, "Pane" means bread and "Vino" means wine... (told by her English Tutor ). The place is nice and decent, the manager and waitress are always nice, and the food are best in town !!


We have been to the restaurant for a few times... We all love the Parmesan cheese to start with... and our favourite starter is Parmaham with melon! The Crispy Baby Pig is recommended too... the taste of it is so yummy!! Many other dishes on menu are good... unable to mention each of them...


We had a wonderful time that night... and sure to visit agin soon!

been here twice, once for dinner and once for lunch.

now it has already been several months since my last visit, i don't quite remember all the dishes i had - and if i went thru them one by one, i am obviously lying. so let's just do the highlights.

what i remember is their pasta - both times i did a bit of pasta. for dinner we had the "chef's hat" shaped pasta in seafood - it was actually a recommendation from another diner, we walked by and he just grabbed us out of nowhere and told us to try. turns out, texture was cooked to perfection, and the sauce oozed in the flavors just right. tasted nothing like it before, nor i could find the particular type of pasta being sold anywhere.

for lunch... i remember there was a chicken breast fettucine, and a seafood linguine. texture for both, again, was superb. the chicken breast... you know how it gets rough and all if not prepared well right? no problem here, the slab of meat was full juicy and tender (which was actually quite a surprise, as it totally exceeded my expectations)

osso bucco... i think we had it for dinner. very punchy flavors, meat was braised long enough. remember to do the osso in the bucco, fabulous!!! the risotto that came with it was a good combination, tho i think it could be cooked sliiiiighty longer.

yet i do wanna comment on their tomato-based sauces... be it creamy or not. i am uncertain whether the chef is trying to give a fresh and light feeling on the sauces, but both times there was sth tomato-based and i felt they were both not strong enough. perhaps it is a chef preference?

and oh oh oh yes, the cheese!! the parmesan nibblies they set on the side during dinner... intense flavors, funny texture... i think they made these themselves. so so so addictive, i could sit and much these all day long...

service was not bad, therez this lady who patiently did the wine list with us and came to our table for check-backs.

talking bout wines... they are quite strict about byobs... luckily their wine list is ok.

price-wise... they do charge you a fat chunk of money alright... but hey, being able to eat heartedly, i wouldnt mind paying a bit of premium.

but i think they have coupon offers and this buy1get1 special on monday (not sure if they still have it)... now if you can grasp these opportunities, dig in!!

Serene and quiet at lunch, plenty sunlight slanting in through the large glass panes; good thing there was a strip of sanded glass at eye level, or else passers by would be peeping, intrusively. I do not enjoy being looked at when I'm eating.

Service:
Excellent, all of us agreed. Attentive service, cordial attitude; family-style. I don't feel particularly confined or restricted in that environment. Very homey. Very Italian.

Average rolls, but the evoo and aged balsamic added another dimension to the plain old roll. the balsamic, in particular, is exceptional. Thick, sweet and strong, it left a pleasant tartness in my mouth afterwards. I loved it. Yes I must repeat myself.

A rather thick soup for something that isn't cream-based. I liked it. It had body, lots of ingredients, very rich, substantial. I'm not a fan of tomato-based soups but I finished every last drop of this one. Perhaps I was hungry. Perhaps I'd just made it to the end of a stressful event. Perhaps it was just yummy.
Oh, it's got a bit of everything a Russian Borscht has - with the addition of extra spices (quite exotic, like bay leaf).

Not the conventional type of salad you'd see. There's salami, red and yellow capsicums, beans, cherry tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke, and some greens. A very generous lug of evoo - everything was practically swimming in oil. Is that how italians do it? A little over, for my taste. I'd prefer a little less vinegar and evoo. As long as the greens are tossed well, it is fine. Too much a good thing..

Pretty good. The fish was fresh and flaky, a quality of fish which I appreciate. Cooked fish it not good if it's meat can only be separated with a lot of assistance from the fork. This one - just press the back of your fork against the flesh and it neatly breaks apart. It's been quite a while since the meal and now (time of writing). Didn't take notes so I've forgotten what it exactly tastes like.

There's actually nothing special about black pasta. Looks like thick hair. Squid ink has no distinctive taste - it just adds another layer of texture to the pasta strands. Slightly grainy. I don't eat shrimp - J made no specific comment. It wasn't too al dente, sadly. a bit on the chewy side. And i realized that I don't like thick spaghetti that much. It's just too much pasta all at once in your mouth. Prefer slimmer pastas
Wonder if you would too.

Again, there isn't much to be said about this risotto. The texture was average, (not as good as On Lot 10) and I couldn't taste saffron at all. Being an extremely expensive spice I suppose they weren't too generous with the portions. I liked the broccolini though! Very cheesy and thick - and only cheesy too, which makes the whole dish rather drab. Could've thrown in ingredients like oxtail or mushrooms to make things more interesting. On that note - I don't recall pumpkin fragrance up my nostrils.

Conclusion:
With H's discount coupons, $116 pax. for lunch sets. Originally, $175 service charge included. A bit on the expensive side for a casual lunch with friends. Therefore I might not come back for lunches so often, unless there's a special occasion. I would want to try dinner here though, at some point. And I would come back again for the homey feeling Italians manage to create. It is very warm.

Girl's night dinner and we chose to return this cozy little Italian

First of all, I love their complimentary starters. The plate of cheese is great to go with any wine and its great to nibble on when you're waiting for your friends.

The bruschetta is great too, and comes with rocket and green olives.
The best is the bread basket, and you must ask the waitress for their vinegar coz it's balsamico tradizionale which is much much much better than normal balsamic vinegar. It's thick like Chinese oyster sauce and its sweetness is great for dipping with olive oil!

Starter: Mixed greens with peppers, pancetta and anchovies
A nice and normal salad with pancetta and anchovies.

Main: Truffled pasta with wild mushrooms in a truffle cream sauce
I would love to have a little bit of meat in this pasta, but it is still great as it is. The pasta itself is infused with truffle, and the thick cream sauce is full of nice fragrance of truffle!
It also has a mix variety of mushrooms in it for the mushroom lovers like me!

Other mains:
- Seafood risotto in tomato sauce which is normal, the rice is al dente with mussels, calamari, and shrimps
- Osso Bucco is my friend's favorite, the veal meat is tender with very tasty bone marrow, and a nice portion of risotto

All in all, Pane Vino will never fail to deliver, but I think it has degress a little bit since it moved to the nicer location on Robinson Road. It used to feel very very cozy, like visiting your Italian friend for dinner. And I agree with comments below, they used to serve generous portions on their food but maybe the rent has brought the portion down...

Also, I don't understand why they don't allow customers to bring their own wine. I understand and is willing to accept corkage fees, but at the new Pane Vino they don't even allow you bring your own wine! why? are they trying to make sure all their customers drink Italian wine?

I love the new location so much better, it is brighter, has character and has an outdoor terrace - looking forward to the warmer weather to sit out their and have drinks! The food was great before but now it is superb, I don't think I have had such good Italian food even in New York and that is saying a lot. Then the desserts the millie folle was a creamy puff pastry delight and the tiramisu perfecto! Their wines were good a big selection to choose from and we were told by the staff that they rotate them so that's good if you like trying wines and always looking for something new to try. Great time had by all and I will definitely be back for more Italian deliciousness.

Let me start off by saying I still love this restaurant. Sadly, they had to move locations around the corner to Robinson road. Due to a non-renewal of contract they were forced to change residences. The new place is nice, but it doesn't hold a candle to their old place. Which gave Panevino a lot of charm, tucked away from the madness of Robinson road. I recently went there with my wife to celebrate my birthday. It was the first time I had visited the new location. The same wonderful food

I recently went there with my wife to celebrate my birthday. It was the first time I had visited the new location. The same wonderful food items are still on the menu and the food still tastes amazing!! However, what disapointed me was their portion sizes. I have been many times to their old location. So I know how generous portions use to be. They have gotten much smaller. I use to get big plates of buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes and basil, generous helpings of pasta and giant slices od tiramisu for dessert. However, that has changed. Panevino is not a cheap Italian restaurant to eat at. Fresh produce and quality ingreidients is what makes their food so good.
I am sure changing residences and renovations have maybe caused them serve smaller portions. But if the owner/manager reads this. Please, bring back your healthy big sized portions. I want to go back, but I now think twice because I am feeling that I am not getting my monies worth like I use to.

Terrible pre Christmas family meal @ Panovino on Robinson Rd & female service was the worst. Signature dish, Saltabocca was like cardboard; failed dish with <10 patrons & they still could not get it right. The recommended sausage pasta ended being spoiled giving my wife food poisoning. Semi-frozen pumpkin pie was harder than solid ice. Only thing that had taste was the calamari & things they did not need to cook, marinated vegs and cheese. Move to Robinson Road was definitely a bad decision

我的 antipasto 亦是用料精良 - 水牛乳酪、乾西紅柿、火腿、沙樂美腸、甜菜頭、醃青瓜....滿滿的一碟,賣相不俗,味道也是清新可人。

犬兒的 mushroom risotto 做得委實不錯,可能用料是較高檔的 carnaroli 而非 arborio 米,體積較大,比較容易控制至 al dente 程度,保留應有的嚼勁。沒有過多的忌廉蓋過原材料,香菰味濃郁並充滿味蕾,能做到濃而不膩,廚師應記一功。

拙荊的 tiny mussel 配意大利粉亦絕不欺場,新鮮的青口鮮甜無比,份量亦見充裕。醬汁是用新鮮西紅柿做成而棄用一般的茄膏,足見廚師一點也不馬虎.....

我的 grill chicken breast 亦是用料新鮮。一嚼下去便知是新鮮而非冰鮮貨......

整體而言這是一家具水平的餐廳,它沒有浮跨的裝修和過了頭的招呼,換來的是堅持用料上乘,簡單就是美的南意大利烹調哲學,令人嚼得自然、食得舒適。

結賬離開時途經廚房,內裡清潔整齊程度在香港實屬罕見。主持人的洋人老板娘又剛進貨回店,看看她手中的購物袋,原來大部份原材料是從西摩道口那家百分之百專門進口意大利雜貨的店子買回來的,怪不得喬遷後食物漲價不少了,原來背後不無道理.....

Had dinner with a few friends here about 2 weeks ago. It was our first time to this restaurant. According to the manager, they have moved to this bigger venue just recently. All of us think that the place is nice and cozy and clean. And the food we ordered is delicious as well! Services was good too. Personally, I love the wine menu. There are a lot to choose from and the manager provided us with some great recommendations too!I will definitely come back for more…………

I found this restaurant a bit diaapointing. Some of the dishes we ordered were very salty. I think the best dishes of the night were the pasta. I would try to avoid the lamb though.Overall, the food tasted Italian, but not good Italian. I can say for sure that I wouldn't choose to go back again.

我倆結婚2週年紀念,是次挑了這素有口碑的小店 !安頓坐位後,侍應便奉上兩款不同賣相的麵包作餐前小食,Homemade 麵包烘得外脆內軟,配以上等的黑醋及橄欖油佐吃,單是麵包都已令我留下深刻印象是晚分別點了兩個頭盤作第一輪攻勢首先 Parmaham on Melon,火腿齒頰留香,配以哈密瓜作伴,雖則不是什麼特別菜色,但單看份量真是不得不讚,而老公則覺得哈密瓜不是當造期,老了一點。另一道頭盤是 Mussels & Clam with White Wine Sauce,從未吃過這麼細小的青口,蛤蜊亦較一般細少,但並不代表欺騙顧客,相反入口不但鮮嫩,再配以白酒烹調,更加突出青口以及蛤蜊的鮮甜,讚再來是兩道主菜 :Special Crispy Baby Pig,豬如其名,外皮脆到不得了,肉質香軟而不膩,從沒嚐過西餐以此方式作賣點,西方人曉弄一手好豬,既有趣又新鮮Mushroom Risotto,真是名副其實香菰煮意大利飯,嚐第一口時除了有飯香之外,香菰的香氣亦填滿了味蕾,看相片應可感受到吧!餐廳經理得知我倆結婚週年紀念,特地送上兩杯 Sangria作祝賀,份外窩心雖已飲飽食醉,但還要點一個甜品

首先 Parmaham on Melon,火腿齒頰留香,配以哈密瓜作伴,雖則不是什麼特別菜色,但單看份量真是不得不讚,而老公則覺得哈密瓜不是當造期,老了一點。
另一道頭盤是 Mussels & Clam with White Wine Sauce,從未吃過這麼細小的青口,蛤蜊亦較一般細少,但並不代表欺騙顧客,相反入口不但鮮嫩,再配以白酒烹調,更加突出青口以及蛤蜊的鮮甜,讚

再來是兩道主菜 :
Special Crispy Baby Pig,豬如其名,外皮脆到不得了,肉質香軟而不膩,從沒嚐過西餐以此方式作賣點,西方人曉弄一手好豬,既有趣又新鮮

Mushroom Risotto,真是名副其實香菰煮意大利飯,嚐第一口時除了有飯香之外,香菰的香氣亦填滿了味蕾,看相片應可感受到吧!
餐廳經理得知我倆結婚週年紀念,特地送上兩杯 Sangria作祝賀,份外窩心

雖已飲飽食醉,但還要點一個甜品作終結 ~
Millefoglie Crema Chautille,意大利千層酥皮包著輕軟的忌廉,淡淡的甜味加上幼滑的忌廉,令這頓有意義的晚餐,畫上滿意的句號
正當陶醉在晚餐之際,侍應再送上兩杯飯後酒 Lemon Liquor,酒精的濃度令我不得不為這餐廳而醉倒。
另不得不提,這間意大利餐廳位於上環半山位置,為免上山加難搵,坐的士是最好最快最方便的選擇。孤陋寡聞嘅我,真係唔知香港有條街名有成五個字咁長,真失禮

同人慶祝生曰,壽升喜歡意大利菜,精心挑選了這間餐廳,點知.....結果壽升食得好少,...我都好明白係正常,因為...mussels & clam in white wine sauce 唔係好新鮮,但都可以.Parma ham on melon 合格,melon唔特別甜.lobster risotto D飯好漿糊feel.Millefoglie 係整個dinner最直既野,真係好味.Orange juice 唔係鮮橙汁,好溝水feel,果X先生同新X橙汁都好飲過佢但係D員工真係好有善. D野食麻麻地, 但白講唔直!

生日飯專登去左呢度慶祝, 聽完個街名都唔知o係邊度, 入到去先知原來係另一個世界!!! 裝修既格局有d似去意大利時既小店子一樣!! 最喜歡係完全冇香港人, 唔會聽到好嘈既廣東話!!今晚好貪心食左好多野:hot platter - 白酒煮青口同蜆:::: 個汁好濃, 但又唔會搶到海鮮既鮮味... 蜆好爽口, 完全冇沙; 青口都不錯pasta - mushroom risotto::: 份量比想像中大份, 但個sauce冇平時一般食開那些咁膩, 好多mushroommain course - lamb rack:::: 唔係太"穌", 羊好"淋"好入味, 裡面仲有stuffings, 有好多herb好香, 連side dish 既薯仔都好好味desert - desert platter::: 亦都係我既bday sweet. 最適合貪心既人!! 有 Panna Cotta 奶凍 (好濃奶味但硬左少少), tiramisu (好正宗又好homemade feel, 酒味唔會太重), Millefoglie (好喜歡那層酥皮and cream cheese) & puff (冇食到因為太飽

pasta - mushroom risotto::: 份量比想像中大份, 但個sauce冇平時一般食開那些咁膩, 好多mushroom

main course - lamb rack:::: 唔係太"穌", 羊好"淋"好入味, 裡面仲有stuffings, 有好多herb好香, 連side dish 既薯仔都好好味

desert - desert platter::: 亦都係我既bday sweet. 最適合貪心既人!! 有 Panna Cotta 奶凍 (好濃奶味但硬左少少), tiramisu (好正宗又好homemade feel, 酒味唔會太重), Millefoglie (好喜歡那層酥皮and cream cheese) & puff (冇食到因為太飽!!)

下次一定要再來試佢其他既pasta!!!!

went there for my parents' anniversary on Friday night with the kids (2 & 5 yrs old). the last time i went was almost 3 yrs ago and the food is still as good as i remember it to be. here's what we ate:- roast spring chicken - very tasty and the kids polished off the whole thing- tenderloin - very tender, also polished off by the kids- mushroom risotto - one to share between me and hubby (had to doggy bag), and one for my dad as main (he said it was too much when he saw it but ended up eating t

went there for my parents' anniversary on Friday night with the kids (2 & 5 yrs old).

the last time i went was almost 3 yrs ago and the food is still as good as i remember it to be. here's what we ate:
- roast spring chicken - very tasty and the kids polished off the whole thing
- tenderloin - very tender, also polished off by the kids
- mushroom risotto - one to share between me and hubby (had to doggy bag), and one for my dad as main (he said it was too much when he saw it but ended up eating the whole thing, which is a lot for a man whose appetite is so small that a single piece of chocolate truffle in the afternoon could derail his dinner plans!)
- osso bucco - yummy but i couldn't finish!
- sole baked in foil - surprisingly good and my mom finished it before i could ask to taste it (first choice had been branzino in salt but they were out of stock)
- roast baby pig - the only item that didn't get 2 thumbs up from me - a bit chewy compared to chinese style roast suckling pig, and a bit gamey (but maybe that's just how suckling pigs taste?)

service was a bit slow in the beginning as there were only 2 waitresses plus a maitre'd/manageress who also served the tables. however it turned out that the staff were very pleasant and helpful, and the manageress even offered us the dessert platter (millefoglie, panna cotta and tiramisu) on the house when she learned that it was my parents' anniversary!

overall a great experience - so much so that my 78 yr old Dad plans to go there again via the central escalator!
